The Fat Man didn’t make an offer; he simply looked at Yun Qianbai with keen interest, his gaze seeming to say, “Kid, so this is your day at last?”

Yun Qianbai felt utterly uncomfortable under that stare, struggling to suppress the fury rising within him.

He knew the Fat Man was waiting for him to speak first, but he deliberately refused to give him the satisfaction.

The two locked eyes in a silent standoff, the atmosphere growing increasingly tense and strange.

The mercenaries nearby sensed the unusual tension and paused their tasks, watching the pair with curiosity, as if witnessing a spectacle.

Seconds ticked by, and the murderous intent in Yun Qianbai’s eyes intensified, as if ready to erupt at any moment.

Yet the Fat Man’s smile grew ever broader, resembling a fox caught red-handed stealing chickens.

Finally, just before Yun Qianbai was about to lose control, the Fat Man spoke: “Let me introduce myself—I’m Ye Dong.”

Yun Qianbai had never heard the name before, but several mercenaries around suddenly exclaimed in shock, “Ye Dong? The third young master of the Ye family, one of the twelve great clans of the Psychics Guild?”

“What? He’s the third young master of the Ye family?”

“No way! The Ye family is one of the top families in the Dragon Kingdom!”

“This fat guy… no, this Third Young Master Ye, why would he come to a place like this?”

The mercenaries whispered among themselves, their gazes toward Ye Dong shifting to a mixture of shock, confusion, and fear.

Yun Qianbai was somewhat surprised too; he hadn’t expected the Fat Man’s identity to be so formidable.

Unlike the Hidden Sect, which openly controlled all of Asia, the Psychics Guild held genuine power over the entire Dragon Kingdom.

Thus, the twelve great families were the highest-ranking clans in the kingdom.

Yet Yun Qianbai couldn’t understand why Ye Dong, with such a powerful background, was seeking him out.

Ye Dong noticed Yun Qianbai’s doubt but didn’t clarify; instead, he smiled warmly and said, “There are too many prying eyes here; why don’t we find a quieter place to talk?”

---

After a moment’s thought, Yun Qianbai didn’t refuse and rose to follow Ye Dong.

He was curious to see what the third young master of the Ye family was really up to.

The two walked out of the mercenary guild, leaving behind a crowd exchanging puzzled looks.

“Just leaving just like that?”

“What does Third Young Master Ye want with that guy?”

“Who knows? But it looks like that guy’s about to get lucky.”

“Lucky? I think he’s about to have a bad time. No one from the Ye family is easy to deal with.”

The murmurs gradually faded away into the noisy guild hall.

Yun Qianbai followed Ye Dong to a private club, lavishly decorated and clearly not a place for ordinary folk. Situated near the city center, the land was incredibly valuable.

Standing at the entrance, Yun Qianbai hesitated; he didn’t believe Ye Dong’s invitation was so kindhearted.

Ye Dong seemed to sense his doubt, grinning broadly and showing rows of neat white teeth. “Relax. This isn’t the Hidden Sect’s territory; it’s my family’s property.”

Only then did Yun Qianbai relax and nod, stepping inside with him.

They were led into an elegant private room, decorated in an antique style, with landscape paintings on the walls and a faint scent of incense burning.

A graceful maid served them exquisite fruit and a pot of clear tea, then quietly withdrew, leaving only the two men.

Ye Dong wasted no time, picking up a piece of delicate chocolate cake and devouring it with relish.

Yun Qianbai didn’t touch any of the food; his slender fingers tapped rhythmically on the table, as if lost in thought.

“Speak,” Yun Qianbai finally broke the silence. “What exactly did you mean by cooperation last time? And what do you know about my sister?”

---

Ye Dong swallowed the last bite of cake, licking his lips contentedly, then lifted his teacup and took a gentle sip before smiling at Yun Qianbai.

“Don’t be in such a hurry, brother Yun. Good things take time; we have plenty of it to talk.”

His leisurely manner irritated Yun Qianbai deeply.

Suppressing his anxiety, Yun Qianbai fixed Ye Dong with a cold gaze, waiting for him to continue.

“I know you’re eager to learn about your sister, and I know you suspect I have ties to the Hidden Sect,” Ye Dong said, setting down his cup and letting the smile fade somewhat. “But I can tell you clearly—I have no connection with them. In fact, we are enemies.”

Yun Qianbai raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical.

“I understand your disbelief, but that’s fine—time will prove everything,” Ye Dong didn’t bother explaining further. “As for cooperation, it’s simple: I help you find your sister, and you do one thing for me.”

“What thing?” Yun Qianbai asked.

“Not yet. When the time is right, I’ll tell you,” Ye Dong said with a mysterious smile. “You just need to know it will benefit you in every way, without harm.”

Yun Qianbai fell silent, studying Ye Dong’s plump face, trying to glean something from his expression, but Ye Dong’s eyes were inscrutable, betraying no hint of deceit.

“Why do you think I would agree to this?” Yun Qianbai asked coldly.

“Because I know where your sister is, and only I can help you find her,” Ye Dong said confidently. “So, brother Yun, what do you say? Will you consider it?”

“Aren’t you afraid I’ll back out once I find my sister?” Yun Qianbai countered.

“No,” Ye Dong shook his head. “Because I know you’re a man of loyalty and deep affection. Once you make a promise, you’ll keep it.”

Yun Qianbai said nothing. He knew Ye Dong was right—he was indeed fiercely loyal, especially when it came to his sister Yun Miyang. He would give everything for her.

“Fine, I agree,” Yun Qianbai finally said. “But you have to tell me where she is now.”

“Well…” Ye Dong stroked his chin. “Not yet, but here’s a hint: she’s safe at the moment, and soon, you’ll be reunited.”
