Yun Yao and Jun Mohan set off toward the ancient cave where the legendary treasure was said to be hidden.

As they stepped into the dangerous forest, an eerie aura washed over them. The surrounding trees towered into the clouds, blotting out the sky; only thin slivers of sunlight filtered through the gaps in the canopy, casting mottled spots of light upon the ground.

"Hiss..." Yun Yao could not help but shiver. The forest was damp and cold, and the air was thick with the stench of rotting leaves and damp earth, making her feel deeply uneasy. Subconsciously, she drew closer to Jun Mohan, following tightly in his wake.

Jun Mohan, however, remained composed, calmly observing their surroundings. The steady, calm aura he exuded provided Yun Yao with a sense of security. The two moved forward cautiously, their footsteps crunching softly against the thick carpet of fallen leaves, the sound unnervingly clear in the silent forest. They remained vigilant, fearing that some danger might spring upon them at any moment.

Suddenly, a dark silhouette leapt down from the trees, blocking their path.

"Who goes there?" Jun Mohan barked, swiftly pulling Yun Yao behind him.

The stranger was clad in black and wore a mask, revealing only a pair of cold, piercing eyes. In their hand, they gripped a sharp blade that glinted with a lethal light. It was Shadow Wraith, an assassin from an underground organization.

"Heh, hand over the secret treasure, and I might spare your lives!" Shadow Wraith’s voice was raspy and sinister, like a demon from the underworld.

Jun Mohan’s eyes sharpened; he knew the intruder meant harm. Shadow Wraith made no effort to hide his killing intent, and the blade in his hand pulsed with a chilling light. The atmosphere grew tense, the very air seeming to solidify. Yun Yao’s heart began to hammer against her ribs. She looked at Jun Mohan’s back with concern, her hands unconsciously clenched into fists.

Jun Mohan glared at Shadow Wraith, his gaze like torches as he said in a low voice, "You think you can take it?"

Shadow Wraith sneered and flashed forward, moving like a ghost toward Jun Mohan. The blade sliced through the air with a shrill whistle, aiming straight for Jun Mohan’s vitals. Yun Yao held her breath, nearly suffocating from the tension. Jun Mohan’s eyes narrowed; he dodged the attack with a swift side-step and drew his sword, engaging the assassin in a fierce struggle. Blades clashed, and cold sparks flew.

Yun Yao quietly activated her telepathic ability. Shadow Wraith’s thoughts echoed clearly in her mind: *Damn it, how does this brat seem to predict my every move? Does he have mind-reading powers too? Impossible! It must be a coincidence!* A faint smile played on Yun Yao’s lips as she whispered the assassin's next move to Jun Mohan.

Jun Mohan shifted his blade, perfectly parrying the strike aimed at his left shoulder. Shadow Wraith’s attack missed once more, and he widened his eyes in disbelief, beads of sweat breaking out on his forehead. He had clearly seen Jun Mohan’s sword moving in the opposite direction—how had it suddenly changed course?

"It seems your skills are nothing more than this," Jun Mohan remarked with a hint of mockery, his swordplay becoming sharper and more aggressive as he pushed forward.

With Yun Yao’s predictions and Jun Mohan’s precise strikes, the two worked in perfect harmony, leaving Shadow Wraith in a completely passive position. The assassin grew increasingly panicked: *What is happening? How am I being suppressed by these two juniors?*

"Watch out for his feint," Yun Yao warned.

Jun Mohan understood immediately. When Shadow Wraith feigned a low attack, Jun Mohan did not focus on the assassin's legs but instead kept his eyes locked on his upper body. Sure enough, while Shadow Wraith’s left hand waved casually, it concealed a hidden trap. A poisoned hidden weapon shot toward Jun Mohan’s face. Jun Mohan, prepared, tilted his head slightly, and the weapon whistled past his cheek, embedding itself into a tree behind him.

"Cheap tricks," Jun Mohan scoffed. A flash of his blade forced the assassin to retreat repeatedly. Shadow Wraith’s face turned pale with terror; he realized he had bitten off more than he could chew.

During a brief lull in the fighting, Jun Mohan asked with concern, "Are you alright?" He brushed a stray lock of hair from Yun Yao’s face. Yun Yao blushed, feeling the warmth of his fingertips, and her heart skipped a beat. "I'm fine," she whispered, their eyes locking as an ambiguous, tender atmosphere spread between them. The surrounding trees seemed to bear witness to the pair, watching them in silence. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves, playing a romantic melody for them.

Suddenly, a voice shattered the beautiful moment. "Senior Brother, over here!"

"Senior Brother, come this way! I've found some clues!" Junior Brother Luo’s voice drifted from not far away, breaking the intimate spell. Jun Mohan pulled his gaze away and looked toward the source. Junior Brother Luo was waving excitedly, beckoning them over.

"Let’s go," Jun Mohan said to Yun Yao, and they headed toward the junior. Yun Yao nodded and followed. Junior Brother Luo led them along a rugged path.

The path twisted and turned, flanked by dense forests that blotted out the sky, leaving only mottled spots of light on the ground. As they ventured deeper, the environment became increasingly treacherous. The air grew thick with a scent of decay, and their footsteps crunched loudly on the rotting leaves.

An unease rose in Yun Yao’s heart; she felt that something was wrong. "Junior Brother Luo, are you sure this is the way to the treasure?" she couldn't help but ask.

Luo nodded quickly. "Of course I'm sure! I saw someone head down this path with my own eyes!"

Yun Yao activated her telepathic ability, and Luo’s thoughts echoed in her mind: *Heh, these two fools actually believe me! Once they’re far enough, I’ll go back and notify Elder Lingfeng to snatch the treasure for themselves! Then I'll be able to get a huge reward!*

Yun Yao’s expression darkened instantly. She grabbed Jun Mohan’s hand and said, "Let's go! This path is wrong!"

Jun Mohan did not hesitate for a second and immediately turned back with her. Hiding in the shadows, Luo was stunned; his scheme had been uncovered! He scrambled out from his hiding spot, trying to stop them, but just then, a group of people emerged from the woods, blocking their way.

Leading them was an elderly man in grey robes—Elder Lingfeng. The elder looked at Yun Yao and Jun Mohan, sizing them up before asking in a deep voice, "Who are you?"

Jun Mohan shielded Yun Yao, his gaze icy as he replied, "None of your business."

Elder Lingfeng sneered. "Hmph! No one in this treasure forest is a bystander! You’d best hand over the treasure, or else..."

Before the elder could finish, Jun Mohan interrupted, "Or else what?"

Jun Mohan’s voice was frigid, carrying a weight of authority that made the elder shudder. The atmosphere grew volatile, ready to explode at any moment. Yun Yao gripped Jun Mohan’s hand, whispering, "Be careful, these people are dangerous."

Jun Mohan patted her hand reassuringly. He looked at Elder Lingfeng with unwavering resolve and stated, "If you want the treasure, we shall see if you have the capability to take it."
