Chapter Fifty-Nine: The Fairy of Frosted Cream’s Cake
There were many cake shops in Qingjiang City, but without doubt, the one with the best flavors was the Creamy Sweets House in the city center. This was a national chain, and its branch here had only opened half a year ago. Rumor had it the taste was exceptional, with the option to either take away or dine in.
Tang Yi left the hospital and went straight to the dessert shop by taxi. There was a long queue at the counter, a testament to the place’s popularity—most were waiting to pick up their orders to take home.
Holding Laru Lassis’s hand, the two entered the shop together. After giving their phone number to a staff member, they headed straight upstairs. The spacious hall was filled with elegant, neatly arranged tables and chairs, and gentle music wafted from the corners, creating an atmosphere of refined comfort. This area was reserved for guests who chose to dine in.
“This feels really nice,” Laru Lassis exclaimed, surprised and delighted by the setting.
“Of course! I started making reservations days in advance. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have gotten a seat,” Tang Yi boasted proudly. The second floor was nearly full; without a reservation, there was no chance of a table.
So he had planned this all along.
A little burst of happiness bloomed inside her.
Laru Lassis pursed her lips, careful not to let her delight show—she couldn’t let him get too smug.
A server brought over the dessert menu. Tang Yi wasn’t much of a dessert connoisseur, and Laru Lassis was even less familiar, so they simply followed the staff’s recommendations and ordered two of the most popular flavors.
The server retrieved the menus and cheerfully explained, “Our cake cream is freshly made on site. You’re welcome to come and watch the process. You can even speak directly with the Fairy Creams during preparation to adjust the flavors to your liking.”
This was a special privilege for dine-in guests, and it was precisely this service that attracted so much curiosity—reservations had to be made a day or two in advance.
Laru Lassis’s eyes sparkled with interest at the idea, and she let Tang Yi lead her to watch the process.
In the preparation room, separated by a counter, they handed over their order. Soon, two Fairy Cream girls approached, brimming with enthusiasm, ready to begin.
Unlike other cake shops, all the cakes at Creamy Sweets House were crafted by Fairy Cream elves themselves. Their flavors appealed not only to humans but were beloved by elf girls as well.
One Fairy Cream girl wore a green dress with a dark green headpiece; the other was dressed in a pink gown, her hair adorned with a red diamond accessory.
Tang Yi and Laru Lassis had chosen the creamy matcha and creamy red diamond flavors, matching the two girls perfectly.
The preparation began.
Before the guests, the two Fairy Cream girls washed their hands thoroughly, then paused, focusing as if gathering energy. Soon, a steady stream of cream began to seep from their fair hands.
From the girl in green, a matcha-flavored cream emerged; from the girl in pink, a cream with a hint of fruitiness.
Laru Lassis found this unique method of preparation utterly fascinating, watching in amazement.
Tang Yi offered an explanation, “Actually, Fairy Creams have foreign origins. These elf girls were first found mostly in Europe, especially in the Falcon Kingdom. When people discovered the cream they secreted was incredibly rich and sweet, trainers from other countries began to introduce them.”
“Every Fairy Cream girl produces cream within her body, which seeps out through her palms. Compared to artificially made cream, this natural cream from the elf girls is even more delicious.”
“And because of this specialty, even though Fairy Creams have considerable battle potential, trainers usually prefer to train them as expert pastry chefs.”
Laru Lassis nodded thoughtfully, her little head bobbing. “You know so much.”
Tang Yi grinned with pride. “Of course! I’m a diligent student. This is all common knowledge.”
Laru Lassis shot him a sidelong glance. Hmph, thick-skinned!
No wonder she’d noticed “Fairy Cream” in the computer’s search history a few days ago. If she hadn’t checked those records herself, she might have believed his story.
Well, since he brought her for cake today, she’d let it slide.
“How sweet would you like your cream?” the pink Fairy Cream girl suddenly asked with a bright smile.
“You can adjust the sweetness?” Tang Yi asked, surprised.
“Yes, we can freely adjust the sugar content when secreting the cream,” she replied.
It seemed these Fairy Cream girls had undergone strict training; although all Fairy Creams could naturally produce cream, not every one could control the sugar content so precisely.
“I’ll have it medium-sweet,” Tang Yi said casually, not wanting anything too sugary.
Laru Lassis hesitated. “How sweet is medium-sweet?”
Tang Yi pondered a moment. “Um, just a bit sweet—pleasant, not cloying.”
Laru Lassis tilted her head, still confused. “A bit sweet?”
She’d never tasted desserts before and had no frame of reference.
“Why don’t I let you try a little first?” the pink Fairy Cream girl offered.
“Alright!” Laru Lassis agreed readily.
She’d ordered the red diamond flavor. The pink Fairy Cream girl stepped over, leaned forward slightly, and extended her right index finger, smiling gently. “It’s fine, you can taste it directly from my finger. I’m producing medium-sweet cream for you.”
The Fairy Cream’s warm demeanor eased Laru Lassis’s hesitation. She leaned forward, brought her lips closer, and lightly touched her tongue to the offered finger, then shyly pulled away.
“Mm, seems fine. Let’s go with medium-sweet,” Laru Lassis said, though she wasn’t sure she’d really tasted anything—she just wanted to move things along.
Tang Yi smacked his lips, his expression turning a bit odd. Suddenly, he understood why this place was always packed—such a method of tasting was certainly unique.
“Would you like to try as well?” the green Fairy Cream girl asked Tang Yi.
He’d ordered matcha.
It was a tough choice.
As she moved her finger forward, Tang Yi unconsciously licked his lips, about to speak, when he was suddenly alert.
Wait!
Danger!
He didn’t need to look to know Laru Lassis’s ruby eyes were fixed intently on him.
“No need for me, the sweetness isn’t so important,” he declined magnanimously.
The Fairy Cream girl withdrew her hand, a little puzzled, but her professionalism kept her from asking further.
