Volume 1, Chapter 12: Truly Like Each Day Dragging on for a Year
Before the sentence was finished, Gu Yuanzhou kicked him in the backside and barked, "Shut your mouth!"
"Why do you think he’s a miracle doctor, Third Uncle?" Gu Xinyu rubbed his rear and grumbled in a low voice.
"Do you want to lose your legs? Keep talking like that!" Gu Yuanzhou brandished his fist, scaring Gu Xinyu into scurrying away.
Gu Zihang looked somewhat dejected and asked Dean Li, "Is he really married?"
Dean Li nodded affirmatively. "That’s right. His wife is the heiress of the Wang family, Wang Rong."
Gu Zihang let out a long sigh, his face filled with regret.
...
At the entrance of the old street, Gu Qingshuang said to Fang Tao with great gratitude, "Thank you for saving my grandfather. You are my great benefactor. If you ever need anything in the future, I will do my utmost to help."
When stepping out of the car, Fang Tao replied politely, "You are too kind. Your family has already provided more than enough compensation."
Gu Qingshuang stepped out as well and smiled, "My grandfather's life cannot be measured by money."
Just then, a mocking voice shattered the warm atmosphere. "Well, well, which young lady has captured your heart this time? Fang Tao, you really have a talent for this!"
The two turned their heads to see Wang Rong and her executive secretary, Huang Qingya, stepping out of a Porsche.
Fang Tao’s expression darkened, and he prepared to walk toward his Ferrari not far away.
"Fang Tao, aren't you going to introduce your new friend?" Wang Rong’s eyes were cold as she stared directly at him.
Gu Qingshuang spoke up softly, hoping to ease the subtle tension. "My name is Gu Qingshuang. And you are? Who is this standing before me?"
Sensing the atmosphere freezing over, I hurriedly tried to break the silence.
"Gu Qingshuang?" Wang Rong walked over slowly, looking her up and down.
Just this morning, Fang Tao and Tang Xinyi had completed their lightning-fast marriage registration at the civil affairs office.
And just a few hours later, his appearance made the situation even more convoluted.
The two women before him were not only outstanding in appearance but possessed an aura so powerful it could not be ignored.
A trace of bitterness welled up in Wang Rong's heart.
"What are you doing here?" Fang Tao turned around and asked calmly.
"This is the third-anniversary gift you promised me. You said it was a family heirloom. Now, it returns to its rightful owner..." Wang Rong said coldly, handing the jade pendant in her hand to Fang Tao.
"It seems your speed in switching partners is truly unrivaled. You end one relationship and seamlessly transition to a new beginning. I suppose you must have had this planned all along, right?" Huang Qingya looked at Fang Tao with a mocking gaze.
"How can you talk such nonsense!" Although Fang Tao remained expressionless, Gu Qingshuang felt indignant on his behalf and retorted angrily.
However, because Gu Qingshuang was born with a doll-like face, even when she was angry, she appeared somewhat adorable.
"Nonsense? He just broke up with our President Wang and is already tangled up with you. Little girl, I advise you to open your eyes wide so you don't get fooled by his appearance; you’ll have nowhere to cry when it’s all over."
Leaving those words behind, Huang Qingya climbed into the car, leaving Gu Qingshuang stamping her feet in anger.
Watching the car pull away, Fang Tao’s expression finally relaxed a little. "I'm sorry you had to deal with that."
"Are you really just divorced?" Gu Qingshuang looked at him curiously, blinking her eyes.
"Yes, it happened this morning," Fang Tao answered simply.
Gu Qingshuang’s mouth fell open in surprise. "A man as good as you, she actually..."
"It’s no big deal. Miss Gu, please head back now," Fang Tao said lightly.
"Let’s exchange contact information, just in case we need to reach each other in the future," Gu Qingshuang suggested.
Fang Tao took out his phone. "Give me your number, and I’ll call you."
Seeing the old domestic-brand phone in his hand, Gu Qingshuang couldn't help but pause for a moment.
Gu Qingshuang recited her number, and her phone rang immediately. She smiled slightly and said, "Got it. Don't go ignoring my calls in the future."
With that, Gu Qingshuang turned and climbed into her car to leave.
Fang Tao let out a sigh of relief, started his Ferrari, and drove toward the Tang Group office building.
As soon as Fang Tao returned to the Tang Group, the employees in the lobby looked at him with indescribable expressions.
"Hello, sir." The lobby manager, Deng Jing, hurried forward, and the others followed suit, offering respectful greetings.
After all, this man had an extraordinary relationship with their president; it was never a mistake to be polite.
Fang Tao nodded slightly in response and headed straight to Tang Xinyi’s office.
As soon as he entered, Tang Xinyi stood up with a smile to welcome him.
"You’re back. Perfect, let’s go have lunch together." It was lunchtime.
Zheng Li walked over and said, "President Tang, shall I order a meal for you?"
"No need, we plan to eat in the staff canteen," Tang Xinyi replied.
Zheng Li nodded. "Very well, I will make the arrangements."
As president, Tang Xinyi rarely stepped foot in the staff canteen. To achieve a certain goal, she had decided to experience it herself, and naturally, Zheng Li knew how to cooperate.
"I’d rather just find a place to eat on my own," Fang Tao said, somewhat reluctant.
Tang Xinyi gently took his arm and whispered in his ear, "Don't forget our agreement."
Fang Tao was about to protest when he felt a sharp pain in his waist and couldn't help but groan.
"Fine, I’ll go..."
Tang Xinyi let go and smiled with satisfaction. "That’s a good boy."
"This woman really has a ruthless touch..." Fang Tao frowned, muttering to himself.
When the two appeared at the restaurant entrance, all the employees stood up, and greetings echoed one after another.
"Get closer!" Fang Tao felt pressure on his waist again and quickly wrapped his arm around Tang Xinyi’s waist. However, as he touched her, he noticed she was also trembling slightly.
The employees watched this scene in astonishment. The decisive, iron-fisted president they remembered was now acting like a delicate bird.
It seemed the power of love was truly magical, capable of turning someone’s world upside down.
This meal felt like an eternity to Fang Tao. He felt like a giant panda being watched by a crowd.
Tang Xinyi, on the other hand, appeared calm and composed. It wasn't until she finished eating that Fang Tao felt a sense of relief.
"If you have nothing to do this afternoon, you can come to my office for a nap," Tang Xinyi said, wiping her mouth.
"No, I have some work to take care of," Fang Tao hurriedly refused, fearing that if he stayed any longer, he would be drowned by those gazes.
"Sister Li, please take him to the garage to pick out a car," Tang Xinyi said to Zheng Li, not pressing Fang Tao to stay.
"Understood, President Tang." Zheng Li acknowledged, then turned to Fang Tao. "Mr. Fang, please follow me."
Zheng Li led Fang Tao toward the underground garage.
As the rolling shutter door slowly rose, Fang Tao’s eyes widened instantly. The scene before him looked like a grand luxury car exhibition: rows of gleaming high-end vehicles were neatly arranged, from Maybachs to Bentleys, BMWs to Mercedes-Benzes—everything one could imagine.
