A few dark lines seemed to appear on Fang Tao’s forehead. The girl before him was nothing short of a domineering little queen; there wasn’t a trace of a refined lady from a noble family in her demeanor.

Tang Xinyi’s bold move left everyone around stunned.

The manager personally stepped forward, beaming, and asked, “Miss Tang, what level of service would you prefer?”

“Isn’t it obvious? My husband should be the best, of course,” Tang Xinyi replied with absolute decisiveness.

The manager immediately understood. Though inwardly amazed at the young man’s luck, he maintained a professional smile.

He mused to himself how today’s young ladies were truly unique in character. Maybe he should try a more understated style someday; after all, appearance always held the power to surprise.

When Fang Tao reappeared wearing his new clothes, the entire store fell silent. A girl’s phone slipped from her hand to the floor, unnoticed by all. Everyone’s eyes held only one word: handsome!

Fang Tao himself was stunned. The reflection in the mirror seemed like an entirely new person. Tang Xinyi, a bit nervous, quickly linked her arm through his and whispered, “From now on, you can’t dress so sharply. It’s too flashy.”

Fang Tao felt utterly helpless, as if he had been thrust into an impromptu performance.

At checkout, seeing the price tag of 590,000 yuan, Fang Tao muttered in his heart.

What on earth is this woman up to? Marrying a random man and then splurging this much to transform him?

“Let’s go. We’re heading to your ex-wife’s house now…” Tang Xinyi deliberately emphasized the words “ex-wife,” as if afraid Fang Tao might forget.

Meanwhile, in a villa in Sunshine Residential Area, Wang Rong’s mother, Li Cuiping, paced anxiously, wondering if her daughter had truly divorced that man she despised.

In the living room, Wang Rong’s younger brother, Wang Jianan, kept checking his watch, as if expecting something significant to happen. He comforted his mother, “Mom, don’t worry. This time, Sister is serious. She’ll definitely divorce Fang Tao.”

Li Cuiping was skeptical of her son’s words. “Not so sure. That useless man has been freeloading off the Wang family for so long. Once he leaves, how is he supposed to survive selling snacks on the street?”

“Hmph. If he doesn’t leave, I’ve already given Master Zhang a heads-up. If he dares to resist, Master Zhang has plenty of ways to deal with him,” Wang Jianan said confidently.

“Good! That puts my mind at ease. Once that loser is out of our family, I’ll have Master Zhang come propose,” Li Cuiping nodded in satisfaction.

“Exactly. Only someone like Master Zhang, from a wealthy family, is worthy of my sister. What’s Fang Tao compared to that?” The mother and son echoed each other disdainfully, while Wang Rong’s father, Wang Zhenyuan, smoked silently nearby, his face full of worry.

Suddenly, Wang Jianan’s phone rang. Upon seeing the message, he excitedly shouted, “Sister sent a message saying they’re divorced already!”

“Really?” Li Cuiping hurried over to ask.

“Look, here’s a photo of the divorce certificate. It can’t be fake,” Wang Jianan showed the screen.

“Great! That useless man is finally gone…” The mother and son almost jumped for joy.

But at that moment, a servant entered and said, “Madam, Young Master, your son-in-law is back.”

“What son-in-law? He’s no longer part of the Wang family!” Li Cuiping snapped.

“Come on, Mom, let’s go see why he’s back,” Wang Jianan pulled his mother outside, curiosity brimming.

At the villa’s gate, they saw Fang Tao standing there and were stunned. Li Cuiping rubbed her eyes, doubting what she saw.

“Is… that Fang Tao?”

“Looks like him… right?” Wang Jianan was equally shocked.

“How did he become like this?” Li Cuiping stared at the completely transformed Fang Tao, a sudden ominous feeling creeping into her heart.

“Mom, remember Sister said she’d give him three million as long as they divorced? Maybe he took the money and got cosmetic surgery…” Wang Jianan speculated.

Li Cuiping’s expression darkened instantly; mixing pain with anger, she asked, “Why are you back?”

Fang Tao stood silently. Yet the fresh aura radiating from him caused the Wang family’s expressions to shift from disdain to confusion, and finally to shock.

Wang Jianan’s face turned ashen as he yelled at Fang Tao, “Give me back my stuff!”

Fang Tao replied calmly, his heart already detached from this family.

For three years, he had quietly shouldered half the family’s burden, but his efforts were like stones sinking into the sea, leaving not even a bubble.

He thought time would slowly change everything, but instead, he sank deeper and was left frozen to the bone.

Wang Jianan glared and kicked an old wooden box in the corner, stomping on it harshly. “Your junk is all in there. If you want it, first cough up that three million.”

“Three million? What three million?” Fang Tao furrowed his brow, utterly confused.

“Don’t play dumb. My sister said she’d give you one million upon divorce. She may have agreed, but we never consented,” Wang Jianan challenged.

“She said she’d give it, but I didn’t take it,” Fang Tao explained.

“You expect me to believe you? Fine, go confront my sister yourself,” Wang Jianan doubted him completely.

“Suit yourself,” Fang Tao stood firm.

“Ask her? Why would I? If you didn’t take my sister’s money, where’d you get those clothes and that hairstyle? Won the lottery?” Wang Jianan sneered.

Anger flared in Fang Tao’s chest.

“Fang Tao, don’t blame us for being heartless. You’re just useless. Look at Xiaorong—now the CEO of Wang Group, about to close a major deal. You two are worlds apart, one in heaven, one underground,” Li Cuiping sneered.

“You should understand that staying with her only holds her back and drags the Wang family down…” she added.

“As you wish, I’m gone. I only want my things back,” Fang Tao said coldly, his heart completely chilled.

Mention of the big deal stung Fang Tao deeply—if not for his quiet support, how could Xiaorong have come this far?

Li Cuiping mocked, “A grown man living off his ex-wife, aren’t you ashamed? Divorced and still eyeing her million, have you no pride?”

“I really didn’t take it!” Fang Tao hastily denied.

“No one believes you! If you didn’t take the money, where did this designer outfit and hairstyle come from? Showing off for us?” Li Cuiping pressed.

Just then, a voice came from the doorway: “I bought the clothes and arranged the hairstyle. Any problem with that?”

The mother and son finally noticed a sleek Ferrari parked nearby. A breathtakingly beautiful woman approached elegantly, linking her arm through Fang Tao’s.

“But I’m not his friend—I’m his wife,” the woman said softly.

Wang Jianan’s eyes nearly popped out. He’d seen many beauties, even his own sister was a great beauty, but with Tang Xinyi’s arrival, the whole world seemed to dim in comparison.

“Who… who are you?” Li Cuiping was stunned as well.
