Chapter 28 Yifei: What do you mean plus one?

As far as Jing Tian was concerned, dating was dating—so what difference did it make whom she dated?
She had a good family background, connections, resources, money, beauty, and a fine figure.
Her family had never required her to find a man of equal status. As long as she liked him, that was enough.
Zhang Li possessed excellent looks and a good physique, and in their brief interactions, he had proven witty and amusing.
Judging by appearances alone, he met all her standards for a partner. Besides, there was something rather special about him.
“If he can give me something that money and power cannot buy, then he is the most special person to me.”
“Even if I have to pursue him myself, I don’t mind.”
After hanging up, anticipation appeared in Jing Tian’s eyes. She was quite eager to learn more about Zhang Li.
Just then, she felt the phone in her hand vibrate.
Looking down at the screen, she saw a message on Penguin.
It was from Zhang Li!
**Jing Tian:** I’m here.
**Zhang Li:** Have you told the other seniors about having dinner together tonight?
**Jing Tian:** Not yet. They haven’t come back.
**Zhang Li:** It’s like this: I heard my three roommates discussing going out to eat tonight. I don’t want to seem antisocial, so could we move the dinner I’m treating you to until after military training? *[covers face]*
**Jing Tian:** Of course. You should get to know your roommates first. Actually, it’s fine if you don’t treat me either—I was partly joking earlier.
In truth, Jing Tian had belatedly realized that she had seemed a little too eager, so this gave her a chance to smooth things over.
**Zhang Li:** If you put it that way, then I suppose I can do without those three roommates. What could be more enjoyable than having dinner with you?
**Jing Tian:** …
The corner of Zhang Li’s eye twitched.
That expression made him feel as though Jing Tian had returned as the Dragon King, her smile containing “three parts cold indifference, three parts mockery, and four parts careless unconcern.”
**Jing Tian:** Junior, you certainly know how to talk. Then let’s postpone our dinner until after military training.
**Zhang Li:** Or perhaps we could eat together tonight? I could also show off in front of my three roommates.
“Show off? He’s remarkably honest about it.” Jing Tian rested her chin on one hand, the smile on her face deepening.
The way Zhang Li chatted with her was completely unlike that of every other man she had ever met.
He was direct without being vulgar, forthright without losing his sense of humor, and highly vivid in the way he expressed himself.
**Jing Tian:** Put that way, it would be hard for me to refuse you.
**Zhang Li:** Exactly. Whether I can establish my position in our dormitory—even in the entire class—depends on you, Senior!
“Where does he get all these strange expressions?” Jing Tian chuckled.
**Jing Tian:** All right, then. We’ll eat together tonight after all.
**Zhang Li:** *[bows]* My deepest gratitude!
“Done.” Zhang Li wore a satisfied smile.
He certainly couldn’t ask Jing Tian outright, “Can I go without bringing my roommates tonight?” Even if she didn’t want them there, she would never refuse out of politeness.

But that would cost him points in her eyes.
A little tact was necessary.
If Jing Tian decided they should meet another time, he would have Cai Wenjing invite a few more people. They could treat it as a class-bonding event.
“Are the four of us going out to eat together tonight?” Zhang Li asked as he rose.
“I have no objection.” Dou Xiao grinned. “We can go to the dining hall together. I ate there at noon, and the food was really good.”
“I’ve been invited out to dinner tonight,” Zhang Li said honestly.
“Then we can’t go.” Dou Xiao immediately shook his head.
He wasn’t the sort to take advantage of someone else.
Li Tingzhe and Wang Zirui nodded in agreement.
“I’m treating a sophomore senior from the Acting Department, along with some girls who’ll be our future classmates,” Zhang Li continued. “Since you’re not going, then…”
“Brother!” Dou Xiao sprang to his feet, his face radiant. “I’m going!”
“I’m going too.” Li Tingzhe and Wang Zirui changed their minds.
The three of them crowded around Zhang Li, fussing over him and offering massages to his shoulders and legs.
“From today onward, you’re our real brother.”
Zhang Li: “…”
You three must have gone to Sichuan Province to study opera.
Meanwhile, in the girls’ dormitory, Jing Tian was startled.
When she turned around, she saw Kan Qingzi and Cai Biyun eyeing her strangely.
“What is it?” Jing Tian touched her cheek.
“You were smiling rather sweetly just now.” Cai Biyun’s smile was inscrutable. “Has our campus beauty, Jing, fallen in love?”
“That’s not what happened.” Jing Tian felt her face grow warm.
“Then why were you smiling like that…” Cai Biyun waggled her eyebrows.
“And you’re blushing now too.” Kan Qingzi added another remark.
“I’m sitting on the balcony. My face is red because it’s hot.” Jing Tian gently shook her head. “As for why I was smiling, it’s because a junior is very funny.”
“Ohhh, a junior.” Kan Qingzi and Cai Biyun spoke in tones brimming with teasing.
Jing Tian felt her whole body heating up. She got to her feet and walked inside. “Don’t make random guesses.”
“What are we guessing?”
“Exactly. We’re both perfectly normal people.”
“Don’t go imagining things yourself.”
Jing Tian pretended to be “angry” and immediately began tussling with Kan Qingzi and Cai Biyun.
After a while, she lay on the bed, panting, and said, “That junior is treating us to dinner tonight.”
“Wonderful.” Cai Biyun’s eyes lit up. “Don’t worry, Tian Tian. I’ll keep an eye on him for you tonight.”
“I have something to do with the film club this evening.” Kan Qingzi sounded regretful. “I won’t be able to help.”
Jing Tian: “…”

Whatever she said only earned her more teasing, so she gave up.
Time flew, and in the blink of an eye, it was six o’clock in the evening.
Jing Tian called Zheng Yuxun, who had not yet returned to the dormitory, and learned that she already had plans for the night.
“Then the two of us will go.”
Cai Biyun and Jing Tian took a taxi to the restaurant Zhang Li had sent them.
It was a private cuisine restaurant that only accepted members, and private rooms had to be reserved in advance.
Fortunately, Zhang Li had booked a large room, spacious enough to accommodate twelve people with ease.
There were four people from Zhang Li’s dormitory, two from Jing Tian’s, and four from Cai Wenjing’s, making ten altogether.
The other three girls from Cai Wenjing’s dormitory were Pan Zhilin, Chuo Ni, and Xia Zihan. Zhang Li had asked Cai Wenjing to invite them as well.
They would all be classmates in the future, so getting acquainted early was only beneficial.
After everyone introduced themselves, they began chatting.
With Zhang Li taking the lead, they asked Jing Tian and Cai Biyun all sorts of questions.
Cai Biyun was exceptionally outgoing, while Cai Wenjing could be considered halfway there. The two hit it off immediately, and with Zhang Li keeping things lively, the atmosphere soon became animated.
“There’s still one person who hasn’t arrived. She’s another senior of ours. I’ll go meet her.”
After glancing at his phone, Zhang Li rose and left the private room.
Cai Biyun asked Jing Tian, “Do you know who it is?”
Cai Wenjing and the others also turned toward her curiously.
Jing Tian: “…”
Why did they assume she would know?
“I don’t.” Jing Tian shook her head, then smiled. “But I can take a guess.”
“It’s either Senior Yang Mi or Senior Liu Yifei.”
Everyone: “???”
At the same time, Zhang Li received Liu Yifei at the entrance.
She wore a long floral dress and only a light touch of makeup, yet her beauty was dazzling. Her long black hair fell casually over her shoulders, lending her an incandescent grace.
“You little brat.”
The moment Liu Yifei arrived, she hooked an arm around Zhang Li’s neck and pulled his head down.
As she had done habitually since they were children, she began ruffling his hair.
*[You have performed one chest-press kill on Zhang Li. Bust size +0.1 / bust shape +1.]*
Liu Yifei’s body went rigid. “???”
It was over her clothes. How could that possibly count as a kill?
