Volume One, Chapter 11: Xixi’s Portrait and Ashes Before His Eyes
Ji Jingzhi saw it too.
In an instant, his anger flared up.
“That bastard Fu Xicheng, Xixi’s seventh day memorial hasn’t even passed, and he dares to cozy up with that scheming Cheng Muyan. Damn it, I’m going to smash his head right now!”
“Jingzhi, I’ve already broken up with him.”
Su Tingwan reached out and grabbed Ji Jingzhi, stopping him from going forward.
There was no winning against Fu Xicheng.
“You said you were taking me for a drive! Let’s go already!”
Su Tingwan refused, so Ji Jingzhi had no choice but to suppress his fury.
He knew better than anyone how much she loved Fu Xicheng.
Over these five years, he had witnessed her humiliation and compromises.
“You…” Ji Jingzhi wanted to scold Su Tingwan for being weak.
But unexpectedly, the one who suffered the most was still her.
When Fu Xicheng let go of Cheng Muyan and sat up, looking toward their side, Ji Jingzhi raised his hand and slammed the windshield with a loud smack.
He glared fiercely at Fu Xicheng.
After Su Tingwan put on her helmet, Ji Jingzhi deliberately took her hand and wrapped it around his waist.
“Hold tight.”
Su Tingwan didn’t resist.
Following Ji Jingzhi’s lead, she tightened her grip around his waist.
She understood his intention—to help her save face in front of Fu Xicheng.
But what he didn’t know was that Fu Xicheng no longer loved her and didn’t care, and she didn’t care either.
Ji Jingzhi was satisfied.
Before, Su Tingwan had guarded her virtue for Fu Xicheng to an absurd degree.
Ji Jingzhi pressed the gas pedal.
He deliberately brushed close to Fu Xicheng’s car, and as he passed by, he provocatively spat “phooey” at the couple inside.
Then he accelerated and drove away, leaving a long trail of exhaust fumes behind.
Su Tingwan, leaving, didn’t notice the intense gaze the man inside the car cast toward her.
In those deep, cold eyes lurked a fierce possessiveness for her.
---
Cheng Muyan saw it and clenched her fists.
The pain in her hand brought her back to her senses, and she questioned without losing control.
Lowering her eyelids, suppressing the turmoil beneath, she suddenly cried out in pain, “Hiss—”
Just now, she had seen Su Tingwan, pretending to forget her injured hand as she reached to fasten her seatbelt.
Xicheng noticed and immediately leaned over to help her secure it.
“Don’t want your hand anymore?”
Fu Xicheng withdrew his gaze and looked at Cheng Muyan.
“I saw Tangtang kick off the blanket and was afraid she’d catch a cold, so I momentarily forgot.”
Mentioning Tangtang, Fu Xicheng’s expression softened noticeably.
He leaned down to tuck the blanket around Cheng Ruotang properly before starting the car.
……
In the bitter winter, Ji Jingzhi wouldn’t really take Su Tingwan for a drive.
He drove her to the supermarket, deliberately choosing many vegetables Xixi liked, planning to celebrate with a hot pot at Su Tingwan’s home that evening.
Back at Maple Grove.
Ji Jingzhi carried the groceries into the kitchen and said to the following Su Tingwan, “I’ll go talk to little Xixi for a bit; leave the shrimp and crab to me.”
“Okay.”
Su Tingwan nodded.
Not long after Ji Jingzhi entered the side room, the doorbell rang.
Su Tingwan thought it was a delivery and went to open the doorI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
