Li Jinhe watched the two exchanging cryptic hints and couldn’t help but ask, “Sister Zhihan, what’s this secretive business about?”
Yao Zhihan affectionately pinched Li Jinhe’s cheek, a mischievous smile curling at the corner of her lips. “If you want to know, ask your sister. If she doesn’t say, I wouldn’t dare reveal any secrets on my own.”
Li Jinhe’s gaze shifted to her sister.
But before she could speak, Li Yan interrupted, “Jinhe, someone will be arriving soon. Wait here for a moment.”
With that, she gestured toward the door, signaling Yao Zhihan to leave with her.
Yao Zhihan nodded lightly, and the two turned and quietly left the room.
Li Jinhe sat alone, pouting and complaining, “If someone’s coming, just say it. It’s not like you can’t tell me.”
No sooner had she spoken than several figures quietly entered the room.
“Second Miss, we have already reported the situation to the Eldest Miss. Please come with us.”
Li Jinhe curled her lips in impatience. “Alright, alright, I know. But I want to finish watching this fear test first.”
She rose and walked to the large glass wall, focusing intently on everything below.
The others exchanged glances, helpless, and could only wait quietly by the side.
Meanwhile, in another room,
Li Yan was intently watching a delicate listening device in her hand. “Zhihan, after contacting him, did you find anything?”
Yao Zhihan gently shook her head, a thoughtful look crossing her brow before a slight smile appeared. “Sister Yan, so far, nothing unusual.”
She rose and sat gracefully on a sofa behind her, sipping her water elegantly. “Sister Yan, I think that Lin Beiye probably isn’t a problem. Maybe we’ve been looking in the wrong direction?”
Li Yan frowned lightly. “No, that’s not the case.”
At first, her suspicion of Lin Beiye was just a nagging doubt in her mind.
But now, it stemmed entirely from the name Lin Beiye had mentioned — Qi Xiongying.
After all, for an ordinary student to know the name of the previous commander was no easy feat.
Unless that person was problematic in some way!
However, the extensive information she had gathered on Lin Beiye revealed no issues.
That’s why she asked Yao Zhihan to get close to him, hoping to uncover any hidden secrets.
Li Yan and Yao Zhihan, equipped with the listening device, began closely monitoring Lin Beiye’s every move.
Suddenly, the device emitted a loud rumble!
The two exchanged a sharp look, their hearts tightening as they hurriedly adjusted the device to catch the details.
Through the device came Lin Beiye’s voice, seemingly in the midst of a confrontation with a group of people.
It turned out the whole incident began when Ye Zhengtian shamelessly tried to flirt with Lu Li, the school beauty of West City Middle School.

Unexpectedly, their attempts not only failed,
but they were labeled as hooligans, sparking a chaotic shoving match!
Listening to all this, Li Yan and Yao Zhihan couldn’t help but question Lin Beiye’s character.
Li Yan glanced at Yao Zhihan and asked, “Does he treat you the same way?”
Yao Zhihan looked clearly displeased. “Not at all! He’s quite cold to me!”
She couldn’t understand why, even wondering if her charm was insufficient.
“Let’s keep listening, Sister Yan.”
“Mm.”
At that moment, in the waiting hall,
Lin Beiye looked at Ye Zheng with a face full of disbelief. “Is this what you call flirting?”
Ye Zheng rubbed his slightly swollen eyes. “Damn! How was I supposed to know Lu Li had a crazy fan club?”
Lin Beiye shook his head bitterly. “Let’s just go back and sit.”
Ye Zheng nodded in agreement.
Just as they turned to leave,
a mocking voice rang out behind them: “I was wondering who it was — turns out it’s you, Lin Beiye.”
Lin Beiye glanced sideways and saw it was one of his classmates.
He wanted to ignore him, but the other persisted: “Lin Beiye, even though Li Jinhe doesn’t fancy you, you shouldn’t be bothering Lu Li.”
At these words, the crowd immediately perked up.
Even Lu Li, who had been indifferent, looked toward Lin Beiye.
The man continued, unabashed: “Even if it’s flirting, you should at least consider where you are.”
“This is the waiting hall for the fear test!”
“Do you think everyone has already given up on the test like you?”
Ye Zheng stood dumbfounded, staring incredulously at Lin Beiye. “Bro, what’s going on here?”
Lin Beiye had deliberately kept his distance from classmates.
Yet, this fiasco had managed to draw their attention.
He looked calmly at the student. “What’s wrong? Even Li Jinhe didn’t fancy you?”
The man’s face instantly darkened. “You! Lin Beiye, I’m just stating the facts!”
He then shouted loudly, “Everyone, you don’t know this!”

“This Lin Beiye is a coward!”
“He freaked out and fainted in the bathroom just because some people from the Ghost Slayer Division wanted to talk to him!”
“Not to mention he didn’t even have the courage to come listen to the teacher explain the fear test!”
“Our East City Middle School’s beauty, Li Jinhe, once had a romance with him!”
“But because he’s so timid and weak-spirited,”
“the goddess ended up kicking him to the curb!”
This explosive tirade thrust Lin Beiye into the center of attention.
Yet the man continued, “So, Lin Beiye never intended to participate in the fear test; don’t be fooled!”
After speaking, he wore a smug smile, as if to say: See? Someone like you, and you still want to flirt?
Lin Beiye remained remarkably composed.
Instead, the surrounding people began whispering and pointing fingers.
Ye Zheng instinctively distanced himself from Lin Beiye. “No, bro, I consider you my brother, not just a sidekick!”
But then Ye Zheng leaned in with a sly grin. “Still, just because you once had a thing with Li Jinhe, you’re my brother!”
“It’s all true,” Lin Beiye said calmly, “but I’ve never thought of giving up on this fear test.”
“It’s okay,” Ye Zheng patted Lin Beiye’s shoulder. “The path of the fear test is full of challenges; not everyone can pass easily.”
“Whether you give up or not doesn’t matter.”
“What matters is whether you can truly see yourself.”
“Like those who died inside.”
“They failed to see themselves clearly and ended up as ghost fodder.”
Hearing this, Lin Beiye’s opinion of Ye Zheng rose.
At least while everyone else was criticizing him,
Ye Zheng resolutely stood by his side.
For someone he had just met, this was rare indeed.
At this moment, Lu Li, who had been silent, finally stood up.
Her every expression and smile effortlessly drew everyone’s attention.
What happened next shocked them all.
She slowly walked toward Lin Beiye, extended her hand, and with a smile as gentle as spring breeze, softly said, “Hello, my name is Lu Li.”
