Lin Beiye’s eyelids twitched slightly as he slowly opened his eyes. At that moment, he realized someone was carefully lifting him onto a hospital bed in the infirmary.
“Lin Beiye, you’re finally awake!” one of his classmates said with a hint of mockery.
Lin Beiye was momentarily stunned. It turned out that when he ventured into the Ghost Realm, it was not his physical body that went, but his soul.
He realized that in the future, he would have to control the timing of his trips to the Ghost Realm carefully, to avoid being carried to the infirmary again.
He turned over on the bed, a self-mocking smile playing at the corner of his mouth. “Looks like I was so frightened by what happened earlier that I fainted.”
“But I’m fine now. Thanks for your concern.”
He glanced around and noticed the two classmates beside him were staring at him with an indescribable smile.
Lin Beiye hesitated for a moment, then understood.
After all, it was hard to believe that a young, strong guy like him would faint just like that.
Yet, the two classmates teased with a playful tone: “Lin Beiye, you’re the school’s sensation now!”
Lin Beiye was puzzled. “Huh? What do you mean?”
They exchanged looks and laughed. “Don’t pretend; we all get it!”
Lin Beiye scratched his head, looking lost.
They couldn’t help but burst out laughing. “Haha, the people from the Ghost-Slaying Division wanted to see you, and you were so scared you hid in the bathroom and passed out!”
“But you just said it was because you were too frightened.”
“Exactly, and now this news has spread throughout the whole school. You really have a unique honor!”
Hearing this, Lin Beiye was speechless.
Most likely, when he went to the Ghost Realm, his physical body collapsed in the bathroom, causing the misunderstanding.
Before he could explain, there was a sound outside the door.
The door opened gently, and in walked Li Yan, the commander of the Tianzhou City Ghost-Slaying Division.
The two classmates’ eyes immediately shone with admiration when they saw Li Yan.
But they knew this was not a place they could linger.
After a brief greeting, they hurriedly left.
Li Yan’s gaze swept over Lin Beiye with a mix of concern and curiosity.
She parted her red lips slightly and smiled softly, “Lin Beiye, I heard you fainted in the bathroom. Are you feeling better now?”
Lin Beiye’s eyes were steady, but his heart churned with unease.

He knew the Ghost-Slaying Division was no ordinary group, so he nodded along smoothly. “Much better now. Maybe it was just the shock from what happened earlier.”
Facing such a powerful organization, Lin Beiye dared not show the slightest carelessness, fearing they might uncover his secrets.
Li Yan gracefully brought over a stool and sat down elegantly.
She tilted her head slightly and tapped her earpiece, whispering, “Record this conversation with Lin Beiye.”
A voice responded immediately from the other end: “Received.”
Li Yan crossed her legs gracefully, revealing a tantalizing glimpse between them.
Adjusting her posture, she prepared to begin their conversation.
Seeing her demeanor, Lin Beiye furrowed his brow slightly and checked the information on her.
[Name: Li Yan]
[Contracted Ghost: Ferocious Spirit]
[Rank: Low]
[Contract Degree: 99%]
[Ability: Converts ghost energy into ice power]
Seeing Li Yan’s ability, Lin Beiye felt a chill run down his spine.
Li Yan seemed to read his thoughts and smiled, “Lin Beiye, don’t be nervous. We just want to understand what happened earlier.”
Lin Beiye heard this and feigned relief with a light sigh. “So you just want to know the details? You scared me—I thought I’d done something wrong.”
Watching Lin Beiye’s uneasy expression, Li Yan raised her brow lightly.
“Lin Beiye, we had a brief encounter outside the classroom before. I’m Li Yan. If you don’t mind, just call me Sister Yan.”
Lin Beiye nodded, still a bit nervous. “Since Sister Yan said so, just ask whatever you want. I’ll do my best to answer.”
Li Yan got straight to the point, “I heard that two ghosts, one black and one white, captured all the ghosts in East District?”
Lin Beiye nodded and replied, “That’s right. If it weren’t for those two ghosts acting, we might have been doomed.”
Li Yan pressed on, “I also heard you were very close to those two ghosts. Did you notice anything?”
Lin Beiye had anticipated this question and had prepared a response.
Feigning residual fear, he said, “Sister Yan, it was urgent at the time. I really didn’t have a chance to observe much.”
“Luckily, a teacher pulled me back in time.”
He paused briefly, as if reliving the perilous moment, then continued, “Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.”
“I see,” Li Yan nodded thoughtfully and handed Lin Beiye a card. “Lin Beiye, sorry for taking up your time.”

“Oh, I remember you’re about to start the fear test soon, right?”
“If you have any problems, feel free to contact me. I’m really rooting for you.”
Lin Beiye took the card.
Strange runes were inscribed on it.
At the bottom, there was a line of tiny script:
“Tianzhou City Ghost-Slaying Division, Commander, Li Yan.”
He was slightly stunned, his gaze sharpening on Li Yan.
This woman… was the commander of the Tianzhou City Ghost-Slaying Division!
She was a powerful figure, holding great authority and prestige!
Lin Beiye took a deep breath, trying to calm himself.
Thankfully, his answers had been acceptable, or else he might have been exposed.
But why did the Tianzhou City Ghost-Slaying Division seem so familiar?
He thought for a moment and suddenly recalled the name of the first ghost enforcer he had recruited: Qi Xiongying.
He whispered the name, “Qi Xiongying…”
Li Yan seemed to catch this faint sound, her entire body stiffening. “What did you just say?”
Lin Beiye was startled and quickly changed the subject. “N-nothing.”
“Sister Yan, if there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave.”
“Otherwise, the teacher might make me stand as punishment.”
With that, he nimbly slipped past Li Yan and hurried out of the infirmary.
Li Yan’s eyes gleamed sharply as she stared at the doorway, fingers tapping lightly on her earpiece. “Was our conversation recorded just now? I want to review it immediately.”
A voice responded from the other end, “Sister Yan, it’s all been recorded.”
Then a puzzled voice asked, “But Sister Yan, why did you give the recommendation slot to this kid?”
“He just seems like an ordinary student, nothing special.”
Li Yan let out a meaningful chuckle. “Ordinary student? An ordinary student would have been scared stiff being that close.”
“Not to mention, he was able to answer my questions.”
