Chapter 92: Fifty Years Down the Drain
The demon charged at the travelers, intending to pass straight through them, enter the warehouse, and seize that Chaos artifact.
But the travelers weren't about to let it get by so easily. Seeing the demon rushing toward them, wreathed in radiant light, they raised their power swords and charged right back at it. The demon tried its best to ignore the travelers, sprinting straight ahead toward its goal.
Its sole purpose now was to grab the Chaos artifact aboard this ship, leave immediately, return to the Sea of Souls, and wait for the next opportunity to enter the material universe.
Power swords hacked and slashed at it relentlessly, the blows from melee weapons causing it no small amount of pain. A host of travelers' power swords struck its body, continuously tearing through its psychic defenses and carving into its flesh.
The corridor was spacious, but the crowd of travelers standing in it had blocked the passage completely. By the time the demon had made it halfway, it was finally brought to a halt—dozens of travelers used sheer numbers to physically press it down onto the floor.
Once Oneka Shiam was pinned to the ground by dozens of travelers, the others grabbed flamethrowers and melta bombs and charged at it, ready to burn the demon alive.
Pinned beneath the travelers, Oneka Shiam could only watch helplessly as the travelers with their flamethrowers and melta bombs closed in step by step, running right up to its face. It was held fast, unable to move.
"Don't you come any closer!!"
Seeing the weapons that could harm it, Oneka Shiam roared at the top of its lungs. It had spent fifty years to get within a single step of that artifact, and now these Space Marines were about to banish it back to the Warp—there was no way in hell it would accept that!
Oneka Shiam channeled its psychic power, transforming it into streams of psychic flame that scorched the travelers pressing down on it. The terrifying heat of the psychic fire rapidly burned the travelers to ash. At last, Oneka Shiam managed to break free.
Looking around at the travelers closing in with power swords raised, Oneka Shiam briefly had the thought that *they* were the real demons. In its rare visits to the material universe, every single appearance had stirred up a bloody storm. It had killed Space Marines before, too—but Space Marines this reckless about throwing away their lives, it truly had never seen.
One after another, they charged in without any regard for their own lives, swinging their power swords like mad. After breaking free, Oneka Shiam used its psychic power to blast the nearby travelers away and continued running forward. But just as it finally reached the corner, the warehouse door already in sight, it suddenly spotted a giant clad in golden armor standing at the warehouse entrance, staring straight at it.
Oneka Shiam looked at the golden-armored giant. There was no time to think—it charged straight at him. It would destroy this last obstacle standing between it and success.
---
Oneka Shiam's claw, covered in red scales and wreathed in psychic flame, lashed out at the golden-armored giant's head, seeking to clear away this final hindrance.
Wang Ming watched the claw wreathed in psychic flame coming for him. Without dodging or flinching, he raised his power sword and swung it at Oneka Shiam's claw in a flash. The golden greatsword cut through the air like a streak of flying light, striking the claw directly—and lopping it clean off in a single stroke.
*Its psychic power is formidable, and in melee it's stronger than a Primaris Astartes. I need to finish it quickly—don't give it a chance to cast psychic powers.*
Wang Ming watched Oneka Shiam retreating rapidly, one hand severed, and mentally assessed its combat capability while considering how to deal with it.
Oneka Shiam's psychic power was immense. Even though the thing looked just like a Khorne Greater Daemon, Wang Ming intended to dispose of it swiftly, denying it any opportunity to unleash its sorcery.
No sooner thought than done. Wang Ming darted toward Oneka Shiam, aimed for its neck, and swung the golden greatsword at it—intending to take its head in one stroke and banish it back to the Sea of Psychic Power.
The moment Oneka Shiam saw the golden greatsword arcing toward its neck, it reacted instantly. It channeled its psychic power into an invisible force, trying to halt Wang Ming's blade.
But things did not go as it had hoped. Wang Ming's blade paused in the air for less than a second before continuing its course toward Oneka Shiam's neck, cleaving downward with furious speed.
The edge of the golden greatsword reached Oneka Shiam's neck. The disintegration field went to work on the demon's red flesh, breaking down the tissue of its material-world body. Wang Ming poured all his strength into driving the blade deeper, aiming for a single decisive decapitation.
Just as the blade was about to cut a quarter of the way through Oneka Shiam's neck, a powerful psychic shockwave blasted Wang Ming backward. After shoving him away, Oneka Shiam sprinted madly for the warehouse door, repeatedly unleashing psychic force to shove Wang Ming back whenever he gave chase.
"Damn psychic powers!"
Wang Ming, knocked back again and again by psychic shockwaves, cursed inwardly. His resistance to psychic power was essentially zero—any physical manifestation of psychic energy affected him fully.
Because of this, he had once wondered whether the Warp essence the Emperor had given him could help solve the problem. But every time he touched that Warp essence of his, all he got was his soul slapped around by psychic force and a viewing of four hundred centuries of the little skinny monkey of Terra's life story—nothing else. It had made Wang Ming suspect that the "Warp essence" the Emperor gave him was a counterfeit.
---
"Just get to that place!"
Oneka Shiam thought to itself, finally reaching the warehouse door. It blasted Wang Ming away behind it once more, then grabbed the door with its remaining arm. Psychic flame blazed in its hand, melting a hole through the metal door. Oneka Shiam hooked its hand into the opening, then casually knocked back Wang Ming, who had caught up yet again.
Oneka Shiam gripped the door, pulling with all its might to wrench it open. But when the door swung open, what it saw was not the Chaos artifact it had dreamed of day and night—but a row of melta cannon muzzles.
"Hey there~"
Inside the warehouse, Wang Lei, Wu Xuan, and a dozen or so travelers stood holding melta cannons, staring at Oneka Shiam frozen in confusion at the doorway. Wang Lei even gave it a little greeting.
The triggers of the melta cannons were pulled. Blast after blast of superheated plasma flew toward Oneka Shiam. And so, amid a string of curses shouted in the language of the Warp, Oneka Shiam was banished back to the immaterium.
"I ** you Space Marines! **!"—those were Oneka Shiam's final words in the material universe before its banishment. Fifty years of effort, all flushed down the damn drain. Wang Ming watched Oneka Shiam vanish in the melta explosions, then sheathed his power sword.
With Oneka Shiam dealt with, the rest was easy. Wang Ming planned to contact the Figure King and sell the *Starry Sky* to him in exchange for supplies.
Sorry, bros, I might have caught it too—my head's pounding like hell today.
