Qin Luo stood at the street corner, just about to raise his hand to hail a cab when a red Chevrolet stopped in front of him.

“Mr. Qin, where are you headed? I can give you a ride,” the window rolled down, revealing a delicate, pleasant face.

He recognized her as the reporter who had just interviewed him, though her exact name eluded him.

“No need, thank you.” Qin Luo smiled and waved her off.

“Don’t be so polite. Come on, tell me. Where to? Maybe we’re headed in the same direction.” The girl was persistent; despite his refusal, she showed no intention of driving away.

Bold, attentive, thick-skinned—these three qualities are the basic requirements for an outstanding journalist.

In fact, interviewing and courting are often alike in their methods.

“Changping Street. Triumph Western Restaurant.” Unable to resist her kindness, Qin Luo reluctantly stated his destination.

He had arranged to have dinner there with Lin Huanxi that evening.

He wasn’t sure why Lin Huanxi had chosen that place for dinner, but he’d heard that restaurants like that always called for candles. Qin Luo wondered if he should buy some candles to take along.

“What a coincidence. I’m headed to Changping Street myself,” the girl replied.

With her words, Qin Luo had no choice but to accept. He opened the back door and climbed in.

She started the car, then fished out a business card from the holder on the dashboard and handed it to him. “I’m Xu Ying, a reporter for the ‘Huaxia Medical News.’”

“I’m Qin Luo,” he replied.

The girl burst into laughter. “Of course I know you’re Qin Luo. I also know you’re the heir to the Divine Needle of Taiyi.”

Qin Luo smiled awkwardly, not knowing how to respond.

Seeing his silence, Xu Ying assumed she’d offended him. She apologized, “Please don’t mind me, Mr. Qin. I’m just like this—casual with friends. I figured we’re about the same age, so I didn’t want to be too formal.”

“I’m not angry, just unsure how to answer,” Qin Luo said with a smile.

“Whew, that’s a relief. You really scared me.” Xu Ying puffed out her cheeks and let out a long breath.

Under the glow of the headlights, her delicate face appeared even more radiant, the black-framed glasses lending her a touch of intellectual beauty.

She truly was a pretty girl.

“I’m not that terrifying,” Qin Luo said, smiling.

“Oh, but you are! You don’t know it, but you’re now someone I have to follow closely. I originally invited you in so I could get to know you better. If I upset you, all my efforts would be for nothing!”

He found her honesty admirable. “Don’t worry. I’m a generous man. You haven’t made me angry.”

“Hehe, that’s good.” Xu Ying smiled. “Mr. Qin, in the future, could you give me any news you want covered?”

“We’ll see,” Qin Luo replied evasively. For now, he wasn’t ready to trust anyone so readily.

“How about an exclusive interview?”

“We’ll see.”

“Are we friends?”

“We’ve just met—so, yes, I suppose.”

Xu Ying burst out laughing. “Mr. Qin, you’re so cautious.”

“It’s necessary. When I left home, my mother warned me—never trust women too easily. The prettier they are, the more likely they are to deceive you. These days, there are too many female swindlers out to cheat people of money or affection. How could I trust so easily?”

Xu Ying laughed again. “Mr. Qin, you’re quite an interesting person.”

“Just average,” Qin Luo replied.

Hearing his answer, Xu Ying laughed even harder, nearly losing her grip on the steering wheel as the car swerved across the lane. Only when a car behind honked did she stifle her laughter and focus on driving.

She parked in front of the Triumph Western Restaurant and extended her hand to Qin Luo. “Mr. Qin, it’s been a pleasure to meet you. I hope we get a chance to work together in the future. But even if we don’t, I’d like to be friends with someone as interesting as you.”

“Of course,” Qin Luo said, shaking her soft, delicate hand.

He waited until Xu Ying’s car disappeared before turning toward the restaurant.

Beep, beep—

A flashy sports car sped over, honking aggressively at Qin Luo.

Inside sat two girls with long, flowing hair. One had a slightly angular face, the typical oval shape, while the other’s cheeks were round and pink, a classic egg-shaped beauty.

Both were youthful and attractive, with large, curved lashes and a now-mature, full bust. Though it was late autumn, they wore sexy camisoles, clearly the type that drew every gaze.

“Hey, move aside! Don’t you have eyes? Can’t you see the car coming?” the oval-faced girl called out in a crisp voice.

Qin Luo was annoyed.

He’d just gotten out of the car and hadn’t noticed another behind him; by the time he did, the girl had already started honking at him.

He hadn’t even had time to demand compensation for the fright, and she was already insulting him, questioning his eyesight.

Wasn’t this a bit much?

“If you have eyes, you should be able to see that I have eyes,” Qin Luo retorted.

The oval-faced girl caught his meaning, her face darkening. “What kind of attitude is that? I should have just hit you instead of honking!”

“You can still do it,” Qin Luo, standing in the middle of the parking lane, responded with a cold smile.

“You—” the girl was enraged, starting the car as if she might drive right at him.

The egg-faced beauty, worried things would get out of hand, quickly snatched the car keys away. “Ling Xiao, don’t do anything rash.”

“Hmph. Sui Sui, didn’t you hear what he said? He’s infuriating. Just because he’s wearing a long robe today, he thinks he’s special?” the oval-faced girl said, brimming with anger.

“Alright, don’t argue with him. Your Brother Xu will be here soon, remember you wanted to keep your ladylike dignity? If he comes and sees you bickering like a shrew, won’t that be embarrassing?” the egg-faced girl soothed her gently.

Convinced by her friend’s advice, Ling Xiao realized now was not the time for conflict.

She snorted coldly and said to Qin Luo, “I’ll let you off this time. Next time, if we meet again, you’ll see how I deal with you.”

“Truly formidable women don’t hold grudges. They settle scores on the spot,” Qin Luo mocked. He had no fondness for women who flaunted their background.

None at all.

Even if she stripped naked and lay on his bed, he’d have no interest—at most, he’d glance a few times.

“You—” the oval-faced girl pushed open her door, ready to go at him.

Ning Sui Sui quickly grabbed her friend. “Xiao Xiao, calm down. You’ve waited so long for this chance, don’t throw it away. If Guan Xu sees you like this, he won’t agree to have dinner with you.”

“But he—” Ling Xiao knew her friend was right. If tonight’s dinner weren’t so important, she would’ve already had it out with this impudent guy.

“I’ll go talk to him.” Ning Sui Sui said cheerfully.

She pushed open her door and, wearing a red camisole and pale blue jeans, her figure full and alluring, moved quickly to Qin Luo. “Big brother, please don’t mind us two girls. Would you be so generous as to let us pass?”

“I wouldn’t hold it against you, but her attitude is terrible,” Qin Luo pointed to Ling Xiao. He found himself quite fond of this gentle, porcelain-doll girl.

“Xiao Xiao has something very important to do, so she was a bit rushed. Sorry,” Ning Sui Sui said, sticking out her tongue in embarrassment.

“Sui Sui, don’t apologize to him!” the oval-faced girl barked angrily from the car.

“It’s fine. It’s just an apology,” the girl said, turning to smile at her friend.

“This isn’t your business. Go on. I’ll stand right here and see if she dares to run me over,” Qin Luo said, squinting at the oval-faced girl.

Some people are begging for trouble.

Some women are equally in need of discipline.

Ling Xiao hadn’t expected Qin Luo to threaten her; it was unlike any man she’d met before.

In Huaxia, ordinary men—even when bullied—would swallow their pride upon seeing a sports car. If she pressed harder, they’d probably apologize.

But this man’s attitude was unexpected.

“Sui Sui, give me the keys,” Ling Xiao got out, rushing to Ning Sui Sui for the keys.

She didn’t believe this man wasn’t afraid of death—when her car came at him, surely he’d run faster than a rabbit.

“Enough, Xiao Xiao. Don’t make trouble,” Ning Sui Sui pleaded.

She turned to Qin Luo, her face gentle. “Big brother, could you please let us pass? Next time I’ll treat you to dinner to make up for it, okay?”

Ning Sui Sui tugged at Qin Luo’s sleeve like a child asking for candy, her eyes pure and clear, untouched by the world.

How could two friends be so different in temperament?

Qin Luo sighed. “Alright, I won’t hold it against you.”

Arguing with two girls over nothing—he realized he was being childish.

Ling Xiao wanted to protest, but Ning Sui Sui shot her a glare. Ling Xiao snorted, took the keys from Ning Sui Sui, and parked her car.

“Big brother, thank you!” Ning Sui Sui smiled sweetly at Qin Luo.

“You’re welcome,” Qin Luo replied.

“What’s your name?”

“Qin Luo.”

“Hehe, I’m Ning Sui Sui. I hope we meet again.”

“I’m sure we will,” Qin Luo said, thinking to himself that perhaps tomorrow she’d see his handsome face in the newspaper or on TV.

Qin Luo waved at the adorable girl and hurried into Triumph Western Restaurant.

He had an appointment with Lin Huanxi; their first date was not one he’d let a beautiful woman wait for.
