Yue Feng was astonished to see none other than the renowned Yun Xi approaching. Excitement lit up his face as he hurriedly straightened his attire and strode forward in quick steps. After all, meeting someone of Yun Xi’s stature was not something one could simply wish for and achieve, let alone shake her hand in person. If by fortune she might offer him a word of guidance, it would be immeasurably beneficial, and his standing in the hospital would surely rise as a result.

Yue Feng extended his hand. “Doctor Yun, hello. I’m Yue Feng, deputy director of Wealth Hospital. I’ve long admired your reputation.”

But Yun Xi ignored him completely, walking straight past without so much as a glance. “I’m here to treat Old Master Su. What’s his condition?”

Yue Feng was dumbfounded, never expecting Yun Xi herself to come treat Old Master Su. Who had such influence to invite her? But it was not the time for questions; he quickly replied to Yun Xi.

“Old Master Su’s condition is not optimistic. I beg you—”

Yun Xi didn’t even listen to his words, marching directly into the operating room to treat Old Master Su.

“Did you see that woman just now? Isn’t she the one who’s always on TV, the miracle doctor Yun Xi?” asked Second Aunt Su.

“Was the miracle doctor invited by Yue Feng?” Second Uncle Su’s face showed concern.

“Of course, who else could it be? That useless son-in-law?” Su Yiyi said proudly.

“That Yiyi girl is truly impressive, unlike that worthless fellow who’s good for nothing,” said Grand Madam Su, seated comfortably and very satisfied with Yiyi’s boyfriend Yue Feng.

Half an hour later, the operating room door swung open, and Yun Xi emerged drenched in sweat. Grand Madam Su grabbed her hand anxiously, “Doctor, how is my husband?”

Yun Xi, fastidious about cleanliness, frowned in discomfort at the touch, unhappy but restrained herself because Ye Feng was present. She replied in a deep voice, “He’s fine now, but he needs rest.” At the same time, she gently withdrew her hand.

“You truly are a miracle worker!” shouted Wang Meili.

“That’s right, you saved Old Master Su. We will certainly reward you handsomely,” Second Uncle Su exclaimed excitedly.

Upon hearing Yun Xi’s words, Grand Madam Su finally relaxed and fainted on the spot. The Su family scrambled to take her to a regular ward for rest.

“Second Aunt, your Yiyi is amazing, finding such a capable boyfriend who could invite the miracle doctor to treat Old Master Su,” said the eldest aunt, who was close to Second Aunt Su.

“Exactly. Without Yue Feng, who knows what would’ve happened to Old Master? My son-in-law is leagues ahead of certain others,” Second Aunt Su said, glancing at Wang Meili.

“She has a pretty face but found a useless husband who only brings shame to the family. If it were me, I’d wish to disappear into a hole and never come out,” Su Yiyi said smugly.

The Su family’s remarks reached Second Aunt and Su Yiyi’s ears, and they felt a flush of pride, their satisfaction written plainly across their faces.

“Our Yiyi has high standards and found a son-in-law we’re pleased with. He’s ambitious, unlike a certain useless fellow who relies on his wife for everything,” Second Aunt Su said sharply, looking at Ye Feng.

Meanwhile, Wang Meili’s face turned ugly; she desperately wished she could crawl into a dog hole and disappear. Her resolve grew stronger—no matter what, Su Manman and Ye Feng must divorce.

Ye Feng stood unconcerned beside Su Manman, as if all the words were meant for someone else.

After resting for a while, Yun Xi came before the Su family. Yue Feng, eager to please, said, “Doctor Yun, thank you for saving my girlfriend’s grandfather. Would you do us the honor of joining us for a meal later?”

Yun Xi’s tone was cold. “Do I know you? Don’t stand in my way.”

She bypassed Yue Feng, walking straight toward Su Manman under the Su family’s astonished gaze.

“Wasn’t she invited by Yue Feng? Why does the miracle doctor seem not to know him?”

“If she knew him, why would she treat him so coolly?”

“Look, the miracle doctor is heading toward that useless fellow. Could it be that he’s the one who invited her?”

The Su family’s whispers made Yue Feng’s face turn sour. In his heart, he thought, “If it weren’t for the chance to meet the miracle doctor, I wouldn’t stay here another second.”

“I only came because of Su Manman. If you wish to thank someone, thank her,” Yun Xi said, then turned and left.

The Su family was stunned. They never imagined Su Manman was the one who’d invited the miracle doctor.

Su Manman herself was bewildered, wondering, “Could it have been Ye Feng who made the call? There are too many people here; I’ll ask him later.”

As Yun Xi passed Ye Feng, she didn’t spare him a glance, treating him as a stranger. It was because Ye Feng had requested over the phone that she ignore him; he didn’t want his identity exposed, fearing unnecessary trouble.

Second Aunt Su said angrily, “Yiyi, break up with this fraud at once. There’s no reason to continue with him.”

“Mom, you don’t need to say it, I understand.”

Su Yiyi felt thoroughly humiliated by Yue Feng. The miracle doctor hadn’t been invited by him at all, despite all his boasts about bringing in top-tier professors.

She turned and left, while Yue Feng, helpless, hurried after her.

“Yiyi, wait for me.”

Yue Feng felt unjustly blamed; he hadn’t said he’d definitely invite Yun Xi, just that he’d try. It was their own assumption, not his fault.

At this moment, Wang Meili raised her voice, “Our Manman is the capable one, inviting the famous miracle doctor Yun Xi. Some people just chase after others, but unfortunately, they’re completely ignored.”

“My daughter isn’t just beautiful, she’s capable. Why did heaven bless her with all the best qualities?”

“But it’s a pity she married such a worthless man. Her bright future has been delayed by this useless fellow,” Wang Meili, the mother-in-law, unleashed a torrent of words, unstoppable.

Hearing her mother’s excessive remarks, Su Manman was displeased and pulled Ye Feng away.

Wang Meili was puzzled by Manman’s departure and shouted, “Manman, why are you leaving?”

Without turning her head, Su Manman called back, “I have work at the office.”

The two left the hospital and headed to the parking lot.

Ye Feng carefully opened the car door for Su Manman before taking the driver’s seat. Inside the car, Su Manman couldn’t resist her curiosity any longer and asked eagerly, “Ye Feng, are you hiding something from me?”

“Why do you ask?” Ye Feng feigned ignorance.

“A million—where did you get it?”

“And at the class reunion, you wore clothes worth over three million, designed by the famous Grace, limited edition.”

“And today, how did you manage to invite the renowned Yun Xi?”

Su Manman listed her doubts one by one.

Ye Feng smiled inwardly, thinking, “She’s not so easy to fool.”

He replied, lips gently parted, “There’s really only one answer to all these questions—I relied entirely on my good brothers for help. Otherwise, do you think it’s possible? I’m at home every day; you know exactly what I’m capable of!”

Su Manman smiled helplessly. “Since Ye Feng isn’t willing to tell the truth, I won’t force him. As long as he treats me well, that’s enough. But will he treat other women this well in the future? No, he can only treat me well for the rest of his life!”

Women truly are mysterious creatures.

“Didn’t you say you wanted me to agree to a condition? Go on, what is it?” Su Manman looked at Ye Feng.

“Hmm... I haven’t thought of it yet. I’ll tell you when I do,” Ye Feng said, pretending to struggle with the answer.

“All right, take me to the office first,” Su Manman sat upright, gazing out the window.

Ye Feng nodded and sped up, heading toward Su Manman’s company.

About fifteen minutes later, they arrived.

Ye Feng got out and opened the car door for Su Manman. For three years of marriage, whenever he was with her, Ye Feng always opened the car door for her; it had become a habit.

Su Manman, noting his attentiveness, said, “You drive the car back; pick me up after work tonight.”

“Okay, I’ll pick you up tonight,” Ye Feng replied happily.

Watching Su Manman disappear from view, Ye Feng reluctantly withdrew his gaze.

Just then, his phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID—it was Secretary Tao. He answered, and her sweet voice came from the other end.

“Chairman Ye, could you come to the office? Someone is looking for you.”

“What’s their name?” Ye Feng asked, puzzled.

“She won’t say, only that she’s an acquaintance of yours.”

“All right, let her wait in the reception room. I’ll be at the office soon.”

Ye Feng hung up and drove straight to Hengda Group.
