Ye Feng hung up the phone, his mind simmering with cold amusement. “Just a lowly general manager of a small company dares to act arrogant in front of me? Let’s see how I deal with you.”

Not long after, Ye Feng received a message from F. The message read: “It’s done. We’ve bought out Evergrand Group at double the price.” Seeing this, a satisfied smile played on Ye Feng’s lips. Remembering that Su Manman had just left in anger without even eating, he decided to take a taxi home to cook for her.

Inside the Su family villa, Su Manman sat on the sofa. The house was spotless, cleaned to perfection by Ye Feng. Her anger softened a little, but as soon as she recalled his outrageous behavior at her birthday banquet, any trace of goodwill dissipated, replaced instantly by a fresh surge of fury.

Just then, the door opened and Ye Feng walked in. Su Manman’s brow furrowed, and she unleashed her pent-up anger on him.

“Kneel!” Su Manman shouted.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Ye Feng dropped to his knees.

Seeing how obediently he complied, Su Manman’s anger only grew. She strode over and slapped him across the face.

A vivid red handprint appeared on Ye Feng’s cheek. He remained still, neither resisting nor flinching.

“Are you even a man? Besides cooking, laundry, and cleaning, what else can you do? You’re utterly useless—what’s the difference between you and a piece of trash?” Su Manman berated him loudly.

“Manman—”

“Don’t call me that! You’re not worthy—do you understand? How blind was I to marry you? Do you know how much you embarrassed me at the banquet today? Are you planning to keep humiliating me forever? You’re nothing but mud that can’t be shaped!”

With those words, Su Manman spun around and left the living room, returning to her room.

At that moment, Ye Feng’s phone rang. Seeing that it was his mother-in-law, Wang Meili, he picked up.

Wang Meili’s suspicious voice came through the phone, “Where did you get that worthless stone you brought today?”

Ye Feng realized she must have discovered the true value of the red jasper. He smirked inwardly, but had no intention of telling her the truth. He replied casually, “I bought it on Antique Street.”

“I knew you were good for nothing! Don’t think I’ll see you differently just because you got lucky,” Wang Meili snapped, then hung up.

The line went dead. Ye Feng shook his head with a wry smile, pocketing his phone. He was long accustomed to his mother-in-law’s attitude.

The next day.

Su Manman, dressed in a white suit, sat before her computer handling company documents when she suddenly received a notification—ten million yuan had been deposited into her account. She was so excited her hands trembled. But then, doubt crept in. Was the money from Ye Feng, or had Zhang Chao lent it to him? She couldn’t figure it out. Shaking her head, she picked up the phone and called her best friend, Meng Qing.

“Qingqing, my company is saved!”

“Really? That’s wonderful! Where did you get the money?”

“I’m confused too. Ye Feng said he’d think of a way, and I also asked Zhang Chao for a loan. I have no idea which of them actually did it.”

“Do you even need to ask? Of course it was Zhang Chao—how could that useless Ye Feng possibly get you ten million? You can’t seriously believe he managed it, can you?”

Su Manman gave a sheepish laugh. She couldn’t believe she had actually thought Ye Feng could produce so much money. She was now certain it must have come from Zhang Chao.

“Hello? Manman, are you still there?”

“Yes, Qingqing, I have something to take care of. I’ll talk to you later.” Su Manman found an excuse and hung up.

She found Zhang Chao’s number and dialed.

“Hello, Manman? Is something wrong?”

“Zhang Chao, I didn’t expect you to help me gather ten million so quickly. To thank you, let me buy you dinner. You choose the time and place.”

“Ah! Oh—right, of course, it’s the least I could do.” Zhang Chao was momentarily stunned, stammering in confusion.

“Alright, I’ll let you know when I’m free. Goodbye.” Overjoyed, Su Manman didn’t notice anything odd in his tone.

“Goodbye!” After hanging up, Zhang Chao was utterly bewildered. When had he given her ten million? What a stroke of luck—he’d become the good guy without spending a cent. Since things had fallen into his lap, there was no reason to refuse. Who knew, maybe this would bring him closer to Su Manman...

The thought of her graceful figure left Zhang Chao longing.

...

At the Su family villa, Ye Feng had cleaned the house immaculately and was about to head to his new company. As he stepped out the door, a brand new Lamborghini sped toward him, stopping just five meters away.

A stunning woman emerged from the car, her beauty and poise utterly captivating. Her long legs, clad in a tight black dress, accentuated her alluring figure. She moved with a light, graceful gait.

“Master, the matter is settled. Here is the remittance slip,” the woman said as she approached Ye Feng, her manner humble—like a servant before her lord.

This woman was F, one of Ye Feng’s seven trusted subordinates, his personal housekeeper who handled all his affairs.

“Well done.” Ye Feng straightened his suit and stood tall.

But F didn’t immediately leave. She hesitated, as if something weighed on her mind.

“If you have something to say, just say it. What could you possibly be afraid of with me?” Ye Feng smiled.

F finally lowered her head slightly and spoke. “Master, I don’t understand. You are the Dragon King of the underground world—a status far beyond the Su family. They’ve treated you so disgracefully, they don’t even see you as human. With your power and standing, what kind of woman couldn’t you have? Why would you willingly become a live-in son-in-law?”

Her face was filled with pain. She had followed Ye Feng for years, and as his confidante, she could not bear to see her king debase himself with such a thankless role for three long years.

Hearing this, Ye Feng was silent for a moment. His mind drifted back to a winter fifteen years ago, when snow blanketed the city. He and his father had nearly frozen to death on the streets, but a young Su Manman had stepped out of a car and handed him a warm coat, along with a few hundred yuan so they could find shelter for the night.

At the age of ten, Ye Feng had suffered food poisoning and was saved by the Su family's Red Cross. At fifteen, he attended a vocational school founded by the Su family, and his father found work there as a gardener. When Ye Feng turned eighteen, his father was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Not wanting to burden his son, the man leapt from the tenth floor, leaving behind a final letter.

His dying wish was for Ye Feng to always repay those who had helped him. But now, it was more than gratitude—Ye Feng had truly fallen in love with Su Manman…

Perhaps she would never know that her small act of kindness so many years ago would one day dramatically alter the course of her life.

Unconsciously, Ye Feng glanced in the direction of the house, his eyes softening with a tenderness he’d never shown before.

“She is my whole world—you could never understand.”

After signing the contract with Evergrand Group, Ye Feng wanted to ask Su Manman if the company’s financial hole had been filled. He called her.

Su Manman’s phone rang. Seeing it was Ye Feng, annoyance flickered across her face, but she answered.

“What do you want?” Her tone was harsh.

“Manman, I just wanted to check—did the money arrive? Is the company safe now?” Ye Feng asked gently.

Su Manman was puzzled. How did Ye Feng know that ten million had arrived in her account today? Was he monitoring her?

“Manman? Manman? Are you still there?”

“That’s none of your business. I’m hanging up!”

She ended the call, suspicion gnawing at her. Could the money really have come from Ye Feng? She quickly dismissed the idea as ludicrous. How could he possibly get her so much money?

Her phone buzzed, breaking her train of thought—it was a message from Meng Qing: “Manman, let’s have afternoon tea downstairs at your company. Bring Nian Nian too.”

A smile appeared on Su Manman’s lips. She dialed Su Niannian.

“Hello? Niannian, where are you?”

“Sis, I’m out—what’s up?”

“Meng Qing invited us for afternoon tea. Do you have time?”

“Sure! I’ll come find you at the office.”

“Alright, see you soon.”
