Han Chen looked somewhat bewildered. He glanced around. There was nothing wrong with the place.

“If there’s nothing wrong with it, why do you want it tidied up?”

Zhao Fan: “…”

Fine. He said nothing more. If he really had someone clean it up, he might only end up offending him.

“Enough, forget that. Where’s the game you told me about last night?”

At the mention of business, Han Chen’s expression changed at once. “Here.”

He turned on the computer and clicked on a soaring logo.

“The game doesn’t have a name yet, so I just used Feiteng for now. Give it a try.”

During the previous meeting, Zhao Fan had specifically suggested replacing the core with elements from Hua Nation’s history and mythology.

When the game opened, Zhao Fan first looked through the characters. They were not as exquisitely designed as he had imagined, but compared with what was currently available, they were already very good.

The skills, too, had been designed with careful attention to how they complemented one another.

“Want to play a round?”

“Sure!”

It was a five-versus-five ranked match. After choosing their characters, Zhao Fan adjusted the screen and grew more excited the longer he played.

A group of them played for an hour, and Zhao Fan was extremely satisfied.

“Not bad, not bad. From now on, release newly designed characters at set intervals and keep the pace under control. Nothing can go wrong. Oh, and the character designs still aren’t quite good enough. Hire more people with experience in fashion design. I’m not saying the men have to be handsome and the women beautiful, but their appearances can’t look tacky.”

Zhao Fan said everything he could think of, and Han Chen wrote it all down, assuring him that none of it would be a problem.

Then Zhao Fan abruptly changed the subject and brought up mobile phones.

“Do you think we could install games like this on the phone?”

Han Chen: “…”

He held himself back again and again. “President Zhao, this game is huge. The phones sent over from the other side simply can’t hold it.”

“Oh.”

There was not the slightest trace of disappointment on Zhao Fan’s face. He even reached out and patted Han Chen on the shoulder, saying earnestly, “I know it won’t be easy, but if you give it everything you’ve got, maybe you can pull it off. Work a little harder and put in a little more effort. You can do it.”

Han Chen: “…”

No, he could not.

Several minutes later, Han Chen rubbed his brow and said in defeat, “I’ll do my best to solve the problem.”

“Good.”

The hand resting on Han Chen’s shoulder pressed down a little harder. Smiling broadly, Zhao Fan left.

Not long after he returned to his office, his secretary placed a document on his desk.

“President Zhao, this contains the detailed procedures for the parcel of land you mentioned earlier—the one being auctioned.”

“Thank you.”

Zhao Fan replied, then opened the document and read through it several times. After giving it some thought, he called Xu An.

As the former manager of Yilan Sky Mansion, Xu An ought to know the details concerning this matter.

Xu An read through the document. “So, President Zhao, you’re thinking of acquiring that parcel of land?”

“That’s right. The news is already out, and quite a few people are probably keeping an eye on it.”

Xu An hesitated. “President Zhao, have you considered that the company may not be able to afford such a large tract of land at present?”

Zhao Fan smiled. “I never said we had to acquire all of it. You said it yourself—it’s a large parcel. If we handle things properly, we may be able to secure an internal discount. What do you think?”

The size of the land meant a high cost. Land prices in Yang City had not yet reached the levels they would in a few years, and probably not many people would want to buy such a large parcel.

In truth, Zhao Fan had not initially intended to purchase land. But considering the company’s future expansion, there were many things he needed to plan for in advance.

As the place where Feiteng had begun, Yang City absolutely could not be left behind.

Xu An frowned. “But…”

“You used to manage Yilan Sky Mansion, so you know the people who moved in during its early days. Use your connections and negotiate this matter first. If it works, all the better. If it doesn’t, we can pursue other avenues.”

Xu An still seemed hesitant. “Then… I’ll make the trip.”

“Mm. Sorry to trouble you.”

Once the matter had been entrusted to Xu An, Zhao Fan turned his attention to publicizing the mobile phone and the game.

After making some preliminary notes, Zhao Fan called a meeting. He spent the entire day in the conference room, and they finalized the promotional process as well.

One copy was sent to Jiang Ying, while another was kept at the company. In half a month, all the promotional plans would be implemented one after another.

With one lingering matter after another resolved, Zhao Fan earned himself two days of rest.

Overcome by laziness, Zhao Fan simply stayed home for an entire day. However, on the second day, his father dragged him to a restaurant.

“You must have been too busy to remember. We agreed earlier that we’d hold a banquet to thank your teachers.”

Zhao Fan froze for a moment, then slapped his forehead. “Right, right, I forgot about that.”

At noon, the guests invited by his father began arriving one after another. To Zhao Fan’s surprise, Chen Tianyu and Duan Gaoxuan were among them. He hurriedly pulled the two of them outside the private room.

“How did you two end up here as well?”

Chen Tianyu chuckled several times. “A few days ago, your father went to the school, and we happened to run into him. We chatted for a while and found out your family was holding a banquet to thank your teachers.”

Duan Gaoxuan picked up the story. “Then we suggested that our families hold it together. It would save us trouble and spare Old He from making several trips.”

“Hmph!”

A cold snort came from the side. The three of them turned around and saw He Yongshan, who had just been mentioned, standing nearby.

Silence fell.

“Ahem. Old He, you’re here. Come on, come on—the other subject teachers have all arrived. You’re the only one missing.”

Zhao Fan spoke up, and Chen Tianyu and Duan Gaoxuan immediately rushed over. Between them, they shoved He Yongshan into the private room.

The already lively room grew even noisier as the restaurant staff began serving the dishes.

During the meal, Zhao Fan, Chen Tianyu, and Duan Gaoxuan ate quietly. Even when they spoke, they deliberately lowered their voices. Somehow, as the older generation chatted, the subject gradually turned to the three of them.

“Zhao Fan is at Yang City University, while Tianyu and Gaoxuan are in the neighboring province. They’re so far apart now. I’m afraid even the brothers’ bond will grow distant.”

The parents of Chen Tianyu and Duan Gaoxuan both knew how much Zhao Fan had helped their sons. Speaking of it now, they could not help feeling melancholy.

A friend who had already distinguished himself in high school—if their relationship truly faded, it would hardly be good for their sons’ futures.

Zhao Fan smiled faintly. “It won’t fade. I’ll have plenty of things to ask them for help with in the future.”

“Oh, don’t call it helping. It’s only right. If you hadn’t helped, Gaoxuan might not even have been able to take the college entrance examination, let alone get into a third-tier university.”

“Exactly. My Chen Tianyu would have run wild without anyone keeping an eye on him. It was a blessing that he made such a good friend.”

Zhao Fan cleared his throat. “All I did was keep an eye on their attitude. Getting this far also depended on their teachers and their own efforts. It was the result of everyone’s hard work. They earned it.”

The expressions of both families’ parents stiffened. Zhao Fan’s reminder suddenly made them realize the situation they were in: their children’s teachers were still present at the table. They quickly apologized.

Fortunately, the teachers did not take it to heart. After saying a few words, they let the matter drop, and the atmosphere at the banquet remained unaffected.

When the banquet ended, Zhao Fan saw everyone off one by one. Chen Tianyu and Duan Gaoxuan waited outside, saying that the three of them should return to school together.

Zhao Fan glanced back, said goodbye to his father and mother, then drove the two of them back to school.

“Why are we going back to school at this hour?”
