Chapter Ninety
Perhaps it was because he saw the delight on his daughter’s face as she ate the cake, or perhaps because he had seen her laughing happily with Wang Yanyan, but Chu Tianhe actually gave Mu Xue an unprecedented glance and said, “When?”
Just those two simple words stunned everyone in the Mu family. Even Mu Sihai was so shocked that he could hardly close his mouth. He simply could not believe that such a formidable figure, the owner of the Supreme Black Card, would actually agree to attend a banquet with the Mu family.
“Eight o’clock. Eight o’clock tonight!”
Even with her normally composed temperament, Mu Xue could not hide the excitement on her face at that moment and hurriedly gave a time.
In truth, the Mu family had not prepared any real banquet at all. This had been Mu Xue’s spur-of-the-moment idea, a way to draw closer to Chu Tianhe. Yet she had never imagined that he would actually agree.
It sent Mu Xue into raptures.
“Understood.”
Chu Tianhe replied indifferently, then carried Yao Yao forward, chatting and laughing as they went.
The members of the Mu family stared after his retreating figure, their hearts brimming with astonishment.
“I’ve worked in the business world for so many years, and I’ve never seen anyone like him.”
“Unfathomable. Truly unfathomable.”
As the cries of amazement spread around them, Chu Tianhe gradually vanished from view. Only then did Mu Sihai come back to himself. His expression changed abruptly as he said, “A Cheng, you are in charge of organizing this Jiangzhou banquet. I will not allow even the slightest mistake in this banquet!”
“Yes!”
“Ah Xue, come with me to the Jiangzhou branch immediately!”
“Yes!” Mu Xue nodded at once and followed Mu Sihai into the car, heading straight for the Huainan Mu Residence branch in Jiangzhou City.
...
“Have you found it or not!”
When Mu Sihai brought Mu Xue to the Jiangzhou branch and pushed through the door, he had barely spoken a word before he immediately sensed that something was wrong.
Every key member of the branch wore tense expressions, each face grave and somber.
The entire hall was dead silent. No one answered Mu Sihai. Instead, they all stared at him and Mu Xue with expressions of utter disbelief.
The atmosphere was oppressively heavy, eerily strange.
“How is this? Why is everyone spacing out?”
Seeing this, Mu Sihai looked even more puzzled.
These technical experts had all been transferred from the capital by him for one purpose: to uncover exactly who this Chu Tianhe, owner of the Supreme Black Card, really was.
A full twenty-four hours had passed. There should have been results by now.
Yet the hall remained utterly silent.
Finally, someone nervously swallowed and broke the stillness.
Then the general manager in charge of the investigation quickly stepped forward to Mu Sihai and said with a tense face, “We have already confirmed Mr. Chu’s identity, but... Mr. Mu, you should brace yourself...”
