At this moment, night slowly descended, enveloping everything outside in pitch darkness. The torrential rain and howling wind masked the groans of the zombies. Those monsters once again appeared out of nowhere in the night, attacking survivors who had yet to forge torches.

Not far from the wooden cabin, a large number of zombies and skeletal creatures had gathered. The skeletal monsters, their bodies gaunt and bony, gripped bows in their hands and stood silently in place, completely unaffected by the raging storm. Meanwhile, the zombies prowled around with clawed hands raised, occasionally emitting low, guttural roars.

The three of them sat around the campfire, listening to the violent wind and rain outside, grateful that they had previously gathered enough food. Chen Fan opened the global chat channel to see if there was any useful information.

Messages flooded in, one after another, at a much slower pace than during the day but still updating rapidly. He had to pause the scrolling to clearly read the content on the screen. Soon, he filtered out several pieces of information that might be helpful to them.

“Rainy days are great; I haven’t had water in two days. Need to collect more.”

“Why isn’t it raining here? Anyone selling fresh water? I’ll trade sand for it.”

“Dinosaurs—I think I just saw the shadow of a dinosaur. What kind of world is this, full of deadly creatures everywhere?”

“Picture.jpg: Check this out—is that a centipede? This kind of creature still exists…”

“That’s nothing. Have you ever seen a monster with a human head and a sheep’s body? It took five health points in one bite. Luckily, I ran fast enough to avoid being eaten.”

This world was astonishingly complex, hosting dinosaurs and giant centipedes alike.

“Kelly, come look at this. Doesn’t it look similar to a monster from one of the mods we used to play?”

Yang Kelly leaned in curiously, and upon seeing the centipede in the picture, she showed no fear, only a calm expression. Normally, any girl would scream upon seeing a centipede two or three meters long and nearly half a meter wide. Just the thought of such a beast crawling out of the woodwork at home would send chills down one’s spine.

“It’s somewhat like a creature from the ‘Dinosaur Rebirth MOD,’ but much smaller,” Chen Fan’s eyes lit up. “The eggs before and this dinosaur mod—maybe there are other mods here too.”

Suddenly, many possibilities flooded his mind—Draw Sword, Twilight Forest, Skyblock, Nothingness, Void World, and many other mods. Perhaps he could experience a world beyond imagination here.

Chen Fan was so excited that he didn’t know where to start and even began planning how to play with these mods.

Yang Kelly rolled her eyes at him and teased, “Give it a rest. If all those mods existed here, what fun would that be?”

Embarrassed, Chen Fan smiled awkwardly and looked out at the storm. Just thinking about the giant spider beneath the cabin made his head ache. He couldn’t simply spend three days playing cards indoors—that wasn’t his style.

Checking the time, Chen Fan noticed the temperature had dropped to 5 degrees. He shivered and opened the trading platform, wondering if anyone had wool for sale. After all, with humans scattered across the planet, someone would surely have extra wool.

Searching for “wool” on the platform, he found sellers—but the price was exorbitant: ten logs for one piece of wool.

He calculated that nine pieces of wool would cost about one and a half logs. Since he already had an iron axe, he could simply chop a few more trees after the rain stopped.

Rem noticed Chen Fan smiling and tilted her head in curiosity. “Master, what are you laughing about?”

Chen Fan looked at her and replied, “Nothing, you wouldn’t understand even if I told you.”

Life was about enjoyment. Having abundant resources meant nothing if one lost their life. The charm of Minecraft lay in its diverse interpretations—some enjoyed building, others collecting materials, some thrived in wilderness survival, others loved redstone technology, and many simply admired the scenery. Each person had their own way of playing and understanding the game. That was its true joy.

With a firm decision, Chen Fan bought nine pieces of wool. At the workbench, he crafted three beds. Looking out the window, he saw the river’s muddy waters rapidly rising, already beginning to overflow the banks.

His expression tightened as he hurriedly turned to Yang Kelly and the others. “Quick, move everything from the first floor to the second to prevent the flood from washing our supplies away.”

At his command, the two immediately sprang into action, carrying vital items upstairs. After a busy effort, all the first-floor supplies were relocated to the second floor.

Outside, the rain intensified, and the water level continued to rise, nearly flooding the cabin’s steps. Chen Fan stared anxiously at the downpour beyond the window.

During the night, the cold was relentless. Yang Kelly shivered uncontrollably from the piercing chill and eventually nestled into Chen Fan’s arms, slowly drifting to sleep.

Though the wooden cabin shielded them from wind and rain and the campfire offered warmth, their thin blankets were no match for the cold. Especially in the latter half of the night, temperatures dropped to near freezing, leaving hands and feet numb.

For the next two days, they remained trapped on the second floor, listening to the rain while watching the water inch closer to the floorboards.

Chen Fan checked the regional channel to see the population count. This storm had claimed thousands of lives. Some had been chatting leisurely moments before, only to be swept away mercilessly by the raging flood—a life or death moment in the blink of an eye.

On the third day, the rain finally ceased, and the floodwaters slowly receded. Sunlight broke through the clouds, casting light upon the land.

[Weather: Clear; Temperature: 12–20°C]
[Day Length: 10 hours]
[Reminder: Winter arrives in 5 days. Temperatures will drop to minus 70°C. Be sure to gather enough supplies for winter and keep warm!]

The three of them stepped onto the balcony to survey the scene. The ground was wet and muddy, strewn with debris. Many trees had been uprooted, lying askew in a disordered mess—a heartbreaking sight.

Chen Fan frowned deeply. “With the floodwaters gone, we don’t have much time left.”

“Yes, only five days. And after this flood, it’ll probably take a long time for new animals to appear,” Yang Kelly replied helplessly.

At that moment, Rem spoke up reassuringly, “Master, don’t worry. I’ll go find food for you right away.”

She turned and ran toward the right side of the cabin.

Chen Fan and Yang Kelly headed toward the forest on the left, hoping to find some large mushrooms and to chop more logs.

Chopping trees was no longer tiring for Chen Fan. With his iron axe in hand, he felled trees in minutes, the logs dropping into his inventory.

After cutting several giant trees, he wiped sweat from his brow and switched to food to replenish his hunger.

Mining and gathering consumed a great deal of energy, and without replenishment, speed and strength would falter.

Suddenly, an arrow whistled through the air, narrowly missing Chen Fan’s head as it flew overhead.
