The chat channel was flooded with frantic messages.

“What’s going on? Chen Fan just killed a hundred zombies—that’s terrifying!”

“Damn, is this guy some kind of monster? Killing so many without getting his brains eaten?”

“He must have some special skills. I can barely kill a few here, and it’s exhausting!”

“Maybe he’s part of a team, but even so, a hundred kills in such a short time is insane.”

“Forget how he did it, I want to know what rewards he got.”

...

On this lonely night, most survivors stayed sealed inside airtight spaces to avoid monsters. They remained inactive, so their hunger decreased slowly, sparing most of them from any life-threatening danger. Yet, the night was unbearably dull. With no companions or beds, loneliness pressed hard. Apart from chatting in the global channel, there was nothing to do.

This made Chen Fan stand out, becoming the center of everyone’s attention.

Elsewhere, Zhao Gang and Zhao Xiaoqian hid in a dug-out cave, their faces full of disbelief.

“Brother, is Chen Fan the same person who saved us earlier?”

Zhao Gang’s expression grew serious. “It’s very likely.”

Zhao Xiaoqian’s eyes lit up. “Should we go back to find him? Maybe he can help us survive the harsh winter.”

“He might not accept us. With his skills, why would he want to carry two burdens like us?” Zhao Gang shook his head.

“Brother!” Zhao Xiaoqian pouted, shaking his arm coquettishly. “Just ask him. Maybe he’ll agree.”

Zhao Gang fell into thought. He recalled Chen Fan’s previous attitude—clearly uninterested in taking them in. A complex mix of disappointment and reluctance welled up inside him.

In the wooden cabin, Chen Fan opened a gift pack from his inventory, curious about the rewards.

As soon as he opened it, a golden egg and a blueprint appeared.

He mused that if he got another maid, life would be endlessly enjoyable.

The other blueprint excited him a bit—a pattern for a warm tent.

[Warm Tent Blueprint: 50 Logs + 100 Sticks + 30 Wool + 10 Leather + 1 Campfire]

Yang Keli, who was killing monsters nearby, noticed Chen Fan’s silly grin and asked curiously, “Chen Fan, did you get something good?”

Hearing this, Chen Fan turned around like a child, proudly showing off the blueprint in his hand. “Yeah! Guess what blueprint this is?”

“Hmm~” Yang Keli pondered, then her eyes lit up. “A warm tent!”

“How do you know?” Chen Fan was surprised by her answer.

Yang Keli smugly put her hands on her hips, brimming with confidence: “Because I’m the clever and smart Keli!”

Chen Fan gave a thumbs-up, stored the blueprint, and continued slaying the remaining monsters.

As they kept fighting, the numbers of zombies and skeletons around gradually dwindled.

When the last monster fell and turned to smoke, Chen Fan exhaled deeply. Though he hadn’t gotten wheat seeds, the haul was decent—lots of rotten meat, 23 bones, 3 iron ingots, and 12 gold coins.

“That’s enough for today. Everyone’s tired,” Chen Fan said, resealing the breach.

Upstairs, the three sat around the campfire, replenishing their hunger.

Chen Fan toyed with the golden egg, debating whether to open it now. But the thought of it turning into TNT made him hesitate.

Rem seemed to sense his worry. “Master, don’t worry. Golden eggs are different from lucky blocks. Golden eggs always hatch maids, and there are only five golden eggs in this world.”

Chen Fan’s heart stirred at her words.

Five golden eggs?

He wanted to collect them all but thought he already had two. Getting all five would be ridiculously lucky.

In this harsh survival world, having another capable helper—whether for fighting, gathering resources, or daily chores—would ease their burden greatly.

Most importantly, the maids were absolutely loyal, never betraying their master. That was crucial.

With this in mind, Chen Fan tossed the golden egg out.

It hit the wall with a faint “crack.”

In an instant, a white light burst forth from the egg, filling the space. A figure gradually emerged from the glow.

When the light faded, a girl, similar in build to Rem, stood gracefully before them.

Rem’s eyes snapped open in disbelief. “Sister!”

Chen Fan couldn’t help but marvel at his luck—he had just gathered the Rem sisters.

Ram slowly opened her eyes, a trace of confusion and bewilderment in her gaze. Soon she saw Rem, and their eyes met. For a moment, time seemed to stand still.

Rem rushed forward excitedly, hugging Ram tightly, tears sparkling in her eyes.

Chen Fan watched the scene and sighed, wondering when he would find Jiang Dali and the others.

He reopened the trading platform, spent 45 logs to buy 3 wool, and crafted a bed to place beside the others.

With everything ready and the sisters’ emotions calming, Chen Fan stepped forward, clearing his throat.

“Ram, welcome to our group.”

Ram gently broke free from Rem’s embrace, bowed slightly, and said, “Master, thank you for accepting me. I will do my utmost to serve you.”

Nearby, Yang Keli pouted, inwardly grumbling, “Hmph, I knew they’d be cozying up to each other.”

As night deepened, everyone rested in the cabin, soon drifting into sleep.

Time passed quickly. Outside, the gray sky brightened as sunlight bathed the land.

Chen Fan awoke to find Yang Keli clinging to him like an octopus.

He carefully removed her limbs, not wanting to disturb her deep sleep, then walked to the window and gazed outside.

The grass shimmered with dewdrops, and birds sang joyfully in the nearby forest.

Chen Fan took a deep breath. Blue skies, white clouds, and chirping birds—it was like a vivid painting.

Suddenly, zombies near the cabin burst into flames, roaring in agony.

Chen Fan froze momentarily, then anger surged within him. “Disturbing my view.”

Muttering to himself, his eyes sharpened. Without hesitation, he drew his iron sword and stormed downstairs, ready to fight.

His movement naturally woke Ram and Rem, who rubbed their eyes and exchanged glances before following him closely.

Chen Fan led the charge toward the burning, roaring zombies.

He swung his sword with precision, striking the monsters’ vital points, each stroke filled with fury.

Ram and Rem soon arrived and joined the battle.

The three quickly dispatched the nearby zombies and skeletons. Some fled into the forest shadows not far away.

After gathering their spoils, the group returned upstairs to rest briefly before setting out to hunt for supply chests.
