Chapter One Hundred: Has Xie Jinchuan Lost His Mind?
Seeing that Shen Qingli’s complexion looked rather poor, Dong Yang immediately contacted Gu Qingming.
After it was decided that she would take part in the dating variety show, Dong Yang glanced awkwardly at the figure standing there.
“President Shen, Gu Qingming said this show can help divert some of the nasty chatter online, and since it’s being hosted by his older cousin, nothing should go wrong.”
At that, Shen Qingli sighed helplessly, pressing a hand to her brow. “Are there any spare agents left?”
She had already sent all the company’s agents out to scout for promising newcomers, and she did not even know whether any of them had come back.
“None,” Dong Yang said. Then, remembering something, he added indignantly, “And because of yesterday’s public opinion blowup, quite a few people quit too...”
In an entertainment company, nothing was more feared than scandal involving the boss.
Thinking of those people, Shen Qingli waved a hand. “Anyone who wants to leave, just approve it.”
Since Gu Qingming had no agent, it had to be her.
Although Ping Lang was also available, a live variety show was no place where one person could possibly manage everything.
“I’ll follow along. You get back to your work.”
Having said that, she drove straight to Gu Qingming’s villa.
The man seemed to know she was coming; he had already prepared a table full of food.
“Sister Shen, why are you looking at me like that? It’s kind of scary.”
Gu Qingming gave a silly little grin, pretending he knew nothing at all.
“How exactly is it with that dating show?” Shen Qingli’s voice was chilly. “You should know that without company approval, an artist isn’t allowed to take on a collaboration privately.”
Seeing that she seemed angry, Gu Qingming hurriedly explained, “Isn’t there been a bit too much gossip about you and me lately? So I thought going on a dating show would balance out the public’s attention.”
“You—”
Shen Qingli frowned, about to scold him, when a piece of soft candy was suddenly pushed into her mouth.
It was richly milky in flavor, but not overly sweet.
After his fingers brushed against the woman’s soft lips, a trace of darkness flashed through Gu Qingming’s eyes, but he quickly suppressed it deep in his heart.
“Now that you’ve had candy, Sister Shen, don’t be angry anymore.”
Looking at Gu Qingming’s pitiful face, Shen Qingli said nothing more. After eating, she offered him a couple of reminders, then turned and left the villa.
What she did not know was that after she left, Gu Qingming’s expression became unreadable. He lowered his gaze to the fingertip that had just touched her soft lips, as if thinking about something.
Only a faint, predatory gleam had entered his eyes.
When Shen Qingli got home, before she even had time to switch on the lights, she set Green Coriander down on the floor and immediately felt a presence of plunder in the air.
Her expression darkened. Before the spiritual force gathering at her fingertips could be unleashed, it was shattered, and her whole body was pinned against the wall.
Moonlight streamed through the window, falling across the two figures by the door and allowing Shen Qingli to see clearly who it was.
“Let go.”
Her voice was ice-cold as she tried to shake off the man’s hands gripping her shoulders.
But his hold only tightened, enough to sting.
“You’re hurting me.”
Shen Qingli frowned.
Xie Jinchuan’s eyes flickered. He loosened his grip slightly, yet still did not step away, as though he were afraid she might run off.
“Xie Jinchuan, are you insane?”
She spoke coldly, her gaze fixed on his face.
Looking at his expressionless features, Shen Qingli truly could not understand what he was trying to do.
After a long moment, as though yielding at last, the man let out a slow breath and buried his head against her shoulder.
The fine strands of his hair brushed against Shen Qingli’s neck, making it itch. She turned her head uneasily, trying to put some distance between them.
A soft bite suddenly landed on her neck.
The sensitive Shen Qingli could not help but let out a trembling sound, her legs going weak at once.
The man’s breathing grew heavier. Still silent, he shifted one hand from her shoulder to her chest, then lightly bit her earlobe. The sweet scent around her seemed to drive Xie Jinchuan nearly mad, making him want nothing more than to melt her into his very bones.
“Let go!”
Shen Qingli struggled desperately, but her lips were forcefully sealed by his. His hand roamed over her body, teasing every sensitive place until she lost all strength in an instant.
“Get lost!”
She bit his tongue and shoved him away with all her strength, then raised her hand and slapped him hard.
Looking at the man who had turned his face aside, Shen Qingli’s eyes shone with a thin sheen of tears. “Xie Jinchuan, what do you take me for? Don’t use the mouth that kissed Rong Qiaoyi to kiss me!”
Green Coriander hid in the shadows, refusing to enter that battlefield.
Yet for some reason, it felt that something about Xie Jinchuan today was wrong.
Host, the Immortal seems off.
At that, Shen Qingli froze slightly, only then noticing that after she slapped Xie Jinchuan, he had stood motionless where he was.
Since entering the room, she had not heard a single sound from him.
Host, try using spiritual energy.
Shen Qingli’s brow furrowed. She gathered spiritual force at her fingertips and sent it straight toward the man.
The next second, a fierce gust of wind slammed toward her. She froze where she stood, staring at the sword edge before her, so cold that she could no longer speak.
“Die.”
The man’s voice rang out, chilling to the bone, while a trace of blackness flashed through his eyes.
Shen Qingli caught it sharply.
“Xie Jinchuan, if you dare hit me, I’ll never speak to you again!”
As soon as the words fell, the sword edge abruptly veered to one side and struck a deep crater into the floor.
If that blow had landed on Shen Qingli, she would surely have been sent back into another cycle of rebirth.
Xie Jinchuan seemed to be in great pain. One hand braced his body on the sword while the other rose to his head. His voice was thick with torment.
“It hurts.”
The long sword fell to the ground and vanished in an instant.
With the pressure gone, Shen Qingli hardly had time to think before she reached out and caught Xie Jinchuan, and the two of them tumbled to the floor together.
“Comfortable.”
The man’s muffled voice sounded as he nuzzled into her arms like an abandoned little puppy.
“Xie Jinchuan, do you still recognize me?”
she asked in a low voice.
“Wife.”
Those two words made Shen Qingli lift a brow. Before she could react, the man flicked his fingers, and in the next instant, they were no longer in the living room but on the bed in the bedroom.
Xie Jinchuan’s head was resting on her thigh, his brows somewhat relaxed.
But his feverish body, along with the spiritual energy continually leaking from him, all told Shen Qingli that his condition was far from good.
She placed her hand on his forehead and sent spiritual energy into him, helping him stabilize the restless force raging through his body.
“I have never, with her, nothing happened, it was only an illusion.”
Xie Jinchuan seemed a little better, yet he suddenly blurted out those words.
Shen Qingli did not reply, knowing exactly what he was referring to.
“Since you’re better now, go back.”
She was about to draw her hand away, but in the next second the world spun before her eyes, and she was pressed beneath the man.
The disordered clothing gave the scene a distinctly intimate cast.
“I’m not leaving.”
Xie Jinchuan muffled his mouth against hers and said coquettishly.
Shen Qingli stared at him in astonishment. “You...”
