Chapter 108: Turmoil Resurfaces
As she was about to return some of her spiritual energy, she suddenly heard a faint, ethereal voice.
"Qingli, Qingli, I'm here. You should come touch me!"
The voice sounded very much like the one she had heard from her mother inside the jade pendant.
Shen Qingli suddenly had a thought and quickly turned her head toward the jade pendant resting on the table.
She saw it flickering with light, almost as if it was beckoning her over.
"What’s going on? Why is the pendant glowing again?"
It hadn’t lit up since before; why now?
Shen Qingli looked puzzled. She got out of bed and walked toward the pendant.
Just as her fingers were about to touch it, a large hand grasped her wrist.
The warm breath of a man near her ear brought her back to her senses.
“Don’t touch it. It’s dangerous.”
Xie Jinchuan still looked somewhat pale, but his tone was calm, as if nothing had happened.
“How’s your body feeling? I’ll give you some spiritual energy first.”
Shen Qingli snapped out of her daze, turning to place her palm on the man’s chest.
The warmth instantly enveloped him, and he tightly clasped her hand.
“I’m fine. I’ll be back soon.”
“But this pendant is strange. Just now, when you tried to touch it, some sort of demonic energy seemed to want to enter your body.”
“When I noticed it, it immediately stopped. Seems it’s afraid of me.”
Xie Jinchuan frowned seriously as he spoke, then took the pendant into his hand.
“No wonder I felt so out of sorts just now. Looks like this pendant isn’t something left by my mother.”
Shen Qingli firmly believed her mother would never harm her.
Perhaps the pendant was ancient and tainted by some impure energy, becoming corrupted.
If so, she might have to reconsider everything her mother had said before.
“Anything that stores demonic energy probably isn’t from the celestial realm.”
After putting the pendant away, Xie Jinchuan looked at the woman in his arms with guilt.
“I’m sorry I didn’t arrive sooner today. If something had really happened to you, I’m afraid I would have gone down with you.”
Hearing his suddenly sentimental words, Shen Qingli was momentarily speechless.
After a moment, she covered her mouth and smiled. “That sounds so cheesy.”
“I almost thought I was overhearing someone else.”
Xie Jinchuan raised an eyebrow and pulled her closer into his embrace.
“What do you mean, overhearing someone else? Have you heard others say such things to you?”
Seeing his adorably jealous expression, Shen Qingli played along.
“Of course! Before I met you, I had admirers, you know?”
“You little liar. The first person you saw after waking up was me. How could you have heard anyone else say those things?”
“But if you think it’s too corny, I can learn to say something else.”
Seeing the serious look on his face, Shen Qingli couldn’t stop smiling.
“Well then, Mr. Xie, you’d better study hard. Don’t let me down.”
Seeing the little one plotting something, Xie Jinchuan raised an eyebrow and kissed her lips.
After the kiss, Shen Qingli blushed and melted into his arms.
“By the way, it was Rong Qiaoyi who caused today’s trouble.”
“Did you see her on the way here?”
Xie Jinchuan shook his head, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
“I’ll handle things with Rong Qiaoyi. You don’t need to get involved.”
“But how much longer is the variety show going to continue filming?”
Watching the previous live streams at the company, especially the scenes with Gu Qingming and her together, Xie Jinchuan felt increasingly displeased.
“I’m not sure yet. This storm is pretty serious; maybe it will pause for a few days?”
Shen Qingli herself wasn’t certain as she spoke.
Suddenly, the man stood up from his seat.
“I’ll go discuss with them about stopping for a few days.”
Before she could reach out to stop him, he had already opened the door and left.
The director, who was tallying damaged equipment, turned around and saw Xie Jinchuan approaching with a commanding presence.
Cold sweat broke out on his back as he immediately thought of the dangerous incident Shen Qingli had faced.
“Mr. Xie... we didn’t expect the incident with Miss Shen. We sincerely apologize and hope you won’t be angry.”
Seeing the director’s humble demeanor, the screenwriter silently offered him a two-second moment of sympathy.
Others might think Xie Jinchuan no longer cared about Shen Qingli, but as director and screenwriter, they knew very well how much this man had cared for her.
“I’m not here because of this incident; after all, it was caused by the weather, an unavoidable force, and not really your fault.”

“You’re right, Mr. Xie. The damage is severe, and the crew is shaken. We’ll pause for a week and find a new location.”
The director nodded appreciatively.
After watching the man leave, he wiped the sweat from his brow.
“Spread the word.”
Unbeknownst to them, a dedicated paparazzo in the shadows had captured the entire scene on camera.
After a bit of editing, the footage was uploaded online, causing an uproar.
Meanwhile, the two involved were packing up the RV, preparing to drive home.
Though it was an isolated island, there was a bridge, allowing the vehicle to pass smoothly.
“We bought some fresh vegetables at home. It’ll be good to rest and eat well once we’re back,” Xie Jinchuan said leisurely, taking the wheel with ease.
Shen Qingli nodded. “You start driving. I’ll check on Gu Qingming to see how things are over there.”
After all, he had been injured trying to save her.

“Is Gu Qingming okay? Has he woken up yet?”
Shen Qingli asked anxiously, but the assistant’s expression was grim.
“Miss, please check the news online first. I’ll take you home now. It’s best to keep quiet for a while. We’ll respond to everything once Gu Qingming wakes up.”
