“Roar—!”

Michelin staggered back two steps, letting out a furious roar, now thoroughly enraged. He swung his fist at Tank.

The two of them were evenly matched, both power-based tanks, like humanoid beasts, each punch landing with a heavy thud.

“So savage...”

Serpent Eyes surveyed the battlefield and noticed that the opposing side had evolved significantly, their strength formidable. As soon as the fight began, his own side fell into disadvantage.

However, Lin Dong still had two powerful allies.

Cheng Luoyi had transformed into a merciless killing machine. Her expression was calm and unruffled as she wielded her enormous blade, slicing through the air with hurricane force. Wherever the blade swept, zombies were shattered into pieces, black blood and severed limbs flying, the scene resembling the making of dumpling filling all over again...

Sun Xiaoqiang, on the other hand, was extremely excited. Experiencing such a grand spectacle for the first time, he seemed swept up by the atmosphere, landing a punch on a zombie and sending it flying dozens of meters away.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

With each punch, zombies around him were hurled backward, some crashing into street-side shops, others colliding with their own companions, knocking down large swathes at once.

Behind them, Chen Ming and the others were also fighting earnestly.

They were all Brain Core phase Awakened, their strength comparable to elite zombies. Back to back, they formed a battle formation, coordinating seamlessly with significant lethality.

With the thought that as long as they helped Lin Dong win this battle, they might survive, they dared not slack off for even a moment with their lives on the line.

“Why haven’t the people from Tyke Corporation arrived yet...”

A trace of worry crept into Serpent Eyes’ heart. He could sense that if things continued like this, he would inevitably be defeated.

No more waiting!

Serpent Eyes leaped from the high-rise, ready to join the fray.

If he didn’t go help, all his underlings would be slaughtered.

But the moment he landed, an immense pressure crashed down upon him, like a surging sea of blood, overwhelming and all-encompassing, trapping him in a mire.

“What’s wrong? Can’t hold back any longer?”

Lin Dong’s silhouette appeared ahead.

“Hmph!”

Serpent Eyes snorted coldly, his vicious gaze venomous. “It’s only because you have humans helping you that you have the upper hand!”

“Weren’t you just saying I was consorting with my food?”

A faint smile played at the corner of Lin Dong’s mouth.

Serpent Eyes was momentarily speechless, stung by the retort and growing furious with shame.

“Die!”

As an A-rank Zombie King, his body was formidable—though suppressed by the Corpse Domain, he hadn’t lost his mobility. Surrounded by an aura of malice, he raised his fist and struck at Lin Dong.

Lin Dong sensed it clearly: whether human or zombie, Serpent Eyes was the strongest opponent he had yet faced.

But he did not dodge, instead meeting the blow head-on.

Bang!

The collision between two Zombie Kings was like mountains crashing together, a violent shockwave sweeping between their fists, sending surrounding zombies flying.

Serpent Eyes felt a sharp pain in his arm, forced to stagger back several steps.

Under the suppression of the Corpse Domain, he was ultimately no match for Lin Dong.

“He’s evolved to this extent...”

Serpent Eyes was appalled to discover the clear gap between them.

Lin Dong spoke calmly, “Not bad. You’re the first opponent to take a punch from me.”

“You...”

Serpent Eyes’ eyes widened with rage. He found Lin Dong unbearably arrogant—an insult, a blatant provocation that ignited his fury.

But just then, Lin Dong closed in again, Corpse Domain pressure rolling forth as his five fingers clawed toward Serpent Eyes’ head.

Serpent Eyes bared his fangs, his yellow pupils constricting as his mental energy flared—he was already deploying his awakened ability: Illusion Space.

“Oh?”

Lin Dong raised an eyebrow, noticing that the surroundings fell instantly silent. The roars and howls of zombies vanished; he now stood in a pitch-black void, as if in an endless universe, all was still.

The next moment, within the darkness ahead, shadowy forms seemed to writhe—a colossal serpent soon appeared, its body stretching a million meters, its upraised head as large as a star, cruel eyes fixed on Lin Dong.

More and more giant serpents appeared, raising their heads and surrounding Lin Dong in the center.

These monstrous serpents loomed like gods, looking down upon all things, their oppressive aura suffocating.

Lin Dong felt as though several mountains blocked his path; compared to them, he was but a grain of sand in the vast ocean, the pressure overwhelming.

Faced with such a terrifying scene, any ordinary person would be scared out of their wits.

But Lin Dong remained tranquil.

He even felt the urge to complain.

“This illusion is too fake, isn’t it?”

After all, Xiao Hei had previously warned him that Serpent Eyes’ ability was Illusion Space, so he had been prepared.

Confronted with these terrifying giant serpents, he felt no nervousness. Instead, he calmly closed his eyes—since it was all fake, he might as well not look at all...

Lin Dong focused all his mental power on his senses.

Moments later.

He detected Serpent Eyes’ presence.

“He’s behind me!”

Lin Dong swung his arm back, his fist seeming to strike empty air—yet a muffled thud echoed, followed by the crisp sound of bones fracturing.

“Ugh!”

Serpent Eyes was sent flying, and at that instant, all the illusions shattered like glass. Lin Dong found himself back on the battlefield.

Serpent Eyes hurtled straight back a hundred meters, smashing through several walls before finally coming to a stop.

“This can’t be!”

He was utterly shocked. Lin Dong had clearly fallen into his illusion, yet still managed to land a blow.

Serpent Eyes’ Illusion Space was indeed potent; even B-rank Awakened would collapse in terror after being trapped within. Only, when it came to Lin Dong... it all seemed rather foolish.

Serpent Eyes had just crawled from the rubble and glanced over to see Lin Dong approaching him once more.

Around Lin Dong, a sea of blood seemed to roar, the pressure so immense it was about to engulf Serpent Eyes.

He could sense mortal danger, as if Death itself was drawing near...

But just then—

From the distance, gunfire suddenly erupted on the street. Two massive Hunters appeared first, Gatling guns blazing fire from their hands, empty shells flying as they cleared a path.

Behind them, two rows of armored vehicles advanced slowly, providing cover.

Between the armored vehicles, a group of human Awakened appeared, led by Yang Hao at the head of the squad.

They were dressed in sleek black nanotech combat suits, exuding an impressive and stylish aura.

“Let’s see how the battle’s going,” Yang Hao said smugly. In truth, he had deliberately arrived late—after all, he wasn’t truly allied with Serpent Eyes. He wanted Serpent Eyes and Lin Dong to wear each other down and then swoop in to reap the benefits.

Just as Lin Dong had done to the Hunter King’s task force before.

Once the great battle ended, ideally, he could take out Serpent Eyes as well...

“Hmph! A mere zombie thinks to challenge me? Doesn’t he know that strategy is humanity’s greatest weapon?”

Yang Hao’s hands no longer trembled as he clicked his lighter, lighting a cigarette and taking a satisfied drag, having completely forgotten how he’d wet himself in Serpent Eyes’ lair earlier. Now, the petty villain was riding high on success.

Surveying the battlefield ahead, chaos reigned—fighting raged everywhere, and it was impossible to tell which zombies were on which side. The carnage was fierce.

“Eh? Where did little Serpent Eyes run off to?”

...
