Chapter Sixty: Quite Wonderful

Lin Dong was walking toward the skyscraper.
He had already sensed four human presences closing in behind him, leaping across the rooftops on either side, tracking his every move.
“Stop right there!”
Suddenly, a figure landed behind Lin Dong, steadying himself with one hand on the ground and barking the order.
Lin Dong halted and turned to look. It was Jiang Wencheng. He straightened up, dusted off his hands, and his expression was completely different from before. The previously genial smile had turned chilling, with a smug sense of triumph, as if he had become someone else entirely.
“If you won’t trade food with me, don’t blame me for what happens next.” Jiang Wencheng smiled faintly and continued, “By the way, I should tell you—I’m with Black Scorpion.”
Swish! Swish! Swish!
The other three leapt down from above, landing to Lin Dong’s left, right, and behind, encircling him in a tight formation.
“A spatial ability user, huh? Now that’s rare. Don’t let him get away!” said a burly man.
Lin Dong glanced at the four of them, remaining silent.
“What, cat got your tongue? Heh heh heh,” sneered a gaunt, shifty-eyed man.
Among ordinary people, the Black Scorpion organization was indeed a force to be reckoned with—they recognized no law, acting solely on their own whims.
Jiang Wencheng sized Lin Dong up.
“A spatial awakened one is a real asset. If you hand over all your food, perhaps... I might consider letting you join us.”
“That won’t be necessary,” Lin Dong finally spoke.
“Oh?” Jiang Wencheng raised an eyebrow, noting that Lin Dong didn’t seem frightened at all.
“So you’re planning to resist to the end? Don’t think your spatial powers make you untouchable.”
“Do you know why I refused to trade food with you?” Lin Dong countered.
“What?” Jiang Wencheng was puzzled.
The burly man was already impatient.
“That’s enough! Stop wasting time—let’s take him out before something goes wrong!”
“Because... you’re the food,” Lin Dong said suddenly.
The four looked at each other, baffled. This guy was acting strange, speaking nonsense they couldn’t comprehend.
But they soon understood.
The ground beneath their feet began to tremble, like a thousand horses charging. From the once-empty street, zombies started pouring in.
They moved with terrifying speed and agility, swarming down from rooftops, scrambling up walls, closing in on all sides.

A shrill giggle echoed.
In a flash, Little Eight vanished from sight and reappeared right in front of them.
The Tank, leaping like a giant ape, vaulted from the rooftop and landed on a wrecked vehicle with a deafening crash, crushing it to pieces.
“A zombie horde?” The horrific sight made Jiang Wencheng instantly realize what was happening. He was dumbstruck—why had so many zombies appeared out of nowhere?
“Retreat, now!” The four realized things had gone awry and tried to escape the way they came.
But the Doctor, leading a pack of zombies, blocked their path.
Everywhere they looked, there were zombies.
Some crouched on all fours atop buildings or clung to walls, eyes gleaming fiercely, snarling and howling, hemming them in completely.
Jiang Wencheng was nearly paralyzed with fear. He turned instinctively and saw Lin Dong standing before the horde, his eyes cold and indifferent.
“He... he’s the Zombie King!” The four instantly realized the truth, their hearts pounding in terror.
“This is the ‘big fish’ you promised?” the burly man howled, eyes nearly bursting from their sockets. This wasn’t a fish—it was a megalodon!
Jiang Wencheng was completely bewildered. “I... I had no idea!” How could he have imagined that the person Sun Xiaoqiang and Cheng Luoyi had been trading food with was a Zombie King? Damn it! One’s a fool, the other’s insane—useless, the both of them!
The zombie horde closed in, snarling like a pack of ravenous wolves, ready to tear them apart.
Tank was the happiest of all, his little eyes squinting in delight. Every time the boss went out, he brought back a meal.
How wonderful!
As the zombies pressed closer, Jiang Wencheng, desperate and terrified, pleaded with Lin Dong.
“Don’t kill me! I... I can join you!”
“Very well,” Lin Dong nodded. “You’re about to become one with them.”
At his words, the zombies surged forward, overwhelming the four before they could even unleash their powers. These were elite zombies, enhanced with the Z virus. In a frenzy of claws and teeth, blood splattered everywhere.
Jiang Wencheng and the others screamed in agony, but their cries were quickly drowned in the tide of the undead.
......
While the zombies feasted on their prey,
Far off in the sky, a helicopter roared past.
Inside sat a young man, pale with terror—Ye Jian’s assistant, Yang Hao.
On his boss’s orders, he was on his way to negotiate with the Zombie King.

“Damn my boss. Damn these capitalists,” Yang Hao muttered under his breath, staring out the window, more nervous than if he were heading to the gallows.
“A-are we almost there?” he stammered.
“Almost, Hao. We’ll be there once we pass that building,” replied the pilot, Xiao Zhang.
“Oh.” Yang Hao nodded, then hesitated. “Maybe... we should circle a few more times?”
Xiao Zhang was silent.
There were only the two of them aboard the helicopter. If the negotiation succeeded, all would be well. If not, bringing more people would only mean more casualties.
As the rotors thundered, the helicopter sped past the rooftops, entering the territory of the Five-Star Corpse Nest.
Yang Hao’s palms were slick with sweat, his heart in his throat.
Looking down, he saw countless zombies scattered by the noise of the rotors, racing madly through the streets, growing in number, howling in pursuit.
“Hao, we’re here. Should we land?” the pilot asked.
“Land my ass! Are you crazy?” Yang Hao cursed.
To disembark now was certain death.
So he grabbed the mic and spoke through the helicopter’s loudspeaker.
“Hello! I’m with Tech Corporation, here to negotiate on the company’s behalf!”
“Hello, can you hear me? I represent Tech Corporation...”
The announcement echoed across the city, repeated several times.
Yang Hao kept his eyes fixed below. After a moment, he noticed the zombies suddenly quieting down and dispersing.
“Hey, it worked.”
“Hao, do you think they’re just trying to lure us down to eat us?” Xiao Zhang asked nervously.
“Shut up!” Yang Hao snapped.
The helicopter slowly descended, landing in a flat plaza.
Yang Hao and Xiao Zhang stepped out, glancing around. There were few zombies in sight, but a single obese figure stood at the forefront.
It was at least six feet tall, covered in thick rolls of fat like a sumo wrestler, with gleaming fangs and fierce eyes.
