Chapter Sixty-Five: The Small Outpost
Jiang Wenbin understood what he meant, and despair flooded his heart. The brother he trusted most had already been torn apart and devoured by zombies! What a powerless apocalypse this was...
For a moment, tears of grievance, anger, and pain welled up in Jiang Wenbin’s eyes.
“Stop crying. I’ll take you to see your brother right now.”
Lin Dong spoke lightly, stepping toward the two of them. With each stride, the domain of corpses unfolded, a powerful pressure sweeping over them, nearly erasing them in an instant.
...
Meanwhile.
The shadow returned to his barren territory with the beef.
But on the way, he couldn’t resist eating it, one bite after another, always thinking each would be his last. By the time he reached the territory, only scraps remained of the half side of beef.
Still, his impoverished companions were amazed.
“Beef? This is from a cow! Boss, where did you catch this beef? Was it from a mutated beast?”
“No... the corpse king in the building gave it to me.”
Little Black answered truthfully.
“Oh?”
His subordinates were even more astonished. That corpse king had meat but didn’t eat it, and actually gave it to their boss? Could there really be such benevolent corpses in the apocalypse?
“Boss, I think that corpse king is pretty decent. Shouldn’t we show some gratitude?”
“Hmm...” The shadow nodded, pondering.
“Perhaps we really should settle things with Snake Eyes!”
“Roar—” At the mention of Snake Eyes, his subordinates let out a furious growl. Clearly, their hatred was boundless.
“Boss! I’ve always said we should fight them!”
“Don’t rush. This matter needs careful handling,” the shadow mused, considering teaming up with Lin Dong to take down Snake Eyes and avenge their forced exile.
A seasoned zombie spoke up.
“I’ll follow your lead, boss. Just tell us what to do.”
“We wait for the right moment. Then, follow my lead.”
The shadow thought it over.
“Uh...” The veteran zombie glanced at his coal-black face, suddenly remembering how they’d lost the last battle because of it.
...
On the other side.
Inside the museum, Lin Dong gathered several corpses but didn’t return to his own territory. Since he was already out, he decided to collect more "supplies."
He remembered the small base of the Black Scorpion Organization.
Lin Dong found killing humans far more entertaining than killing zombies. Human emotions were rich—fear, sadness, despair. Zombies, even with evolved emotions, remained comparatively shallow.
How could he savor this delightful torment?
Leaving the museum, Lin Dong followed the intelligence gathered on his phone and soon arrived at a plaza. No zombies roamed the area, only smears of blood and decaying bodies.
Ruined buildings surrounded him, chaos stretching as far as the eye could see.
However.
Lin Dong sensed the presence of humans hiding nearby.
They were right beneath his feet.
He didn’t use the underground entrance, which was guarded by awakened ones, but instead slipped into the ground using his corpse domain, silently entering the underground mall.
After the darkness lifted, his sight returned.
Lin Dong found himself in a spacious room, the air thick with the scent of chemicals. Wooden shelves lined the walls, holding row upon row of clear glass jars filled with formaldehyde, each containing something submerged.
“What is this?” Lin Dong approached and saw that the jars held men’s severed genitalia.
Good heavens!
The Black Scorpion Organization, true to its reputation, had some twisted tastes—it was truly perverse.
He looked around, noting that there were at least a hundred such jars.
“None of them are particularly large...” he muttered quietly.
At that moment, the rattle of iron chains echoed by his ear, accompanied by the agonized moans of men.
In the room’s far right corner, two men were naked and spread-eagled, their hands and feet shackled to wooden frames.
On the nearby table lay an array of knives and bottles. It was obvious what had happened.
Both men had suffered castration. Blood soaked their thighs, and their faces were contorted in pain.
Lin Dong strode over.
He didn’t bother hiding his presence; his figure appeared clearly.
The two men, previously delirious with pain, perked up upon seeing him, their voices weak.
“Brother, how did you get in here? Please, save us!”
“Who’s your brother? Your brother is already gone,” Lin Dong replied casually.
Clearly, these two were survivors, tortured mercilessly by the Black Scorpion Organization.
“...” The men were speechless, surprised he could joke at a time like this.
“Please, hurry and save us. Don’t let that demon woman see you, or she’ll force you to... you know, then cut it off in one swift stroke. She’s inhuman!”
“I’m not human either,” Lin Dong said, uninterested in conversation. He drew a knife and stabbed the man in the neck. Blood gushed, the body convulsed, and then went limp.
If the demon woman cuts off what’s below, then he’ll cut off what’s above. Isn’t that more merciful?
The other man’s eyes filled with terror.
“Ah—help! Murder!”
But such cries were common here. No one cared.
“In the apocalypse, what’s so shocking about a murder?” Lin Dong said, and with a wave, silenced the man.
Then he stored the bodies in his spatial inventory.
Afterward, Lin Dong quietly sensed the underground mall. There were more than ninety living humans left.
Some survivors had already been tortured to death, while some Black Scorpion members were out and not present.
Just then, an awakened one approached the room.
Soon, the door opened. The newcomer was the "demon woman" the men had mentioned. She had silver hair cascading like a waterfall, a slender, curvaceous figure, and wore revealing clothing.
“Huh?” The woman’s eyes froze when she saw Lin Dong, her expression surprised, but it quickly turned into infatuation.
“What a handsome man...”
Since the apocalypse began, this demon woman had never seen a man so handsome, so clean and tidy—he was simply perfection.
But where did he come from?
Could one of her brothers have caught him outside and brought him here? They certainly knew how to please their sister...
“Don’t be afraid, handsome,” she purred, her gaze seductive, capable of enchanting and mesmerizing.
Lin Dong saw instantly.
She was a psychic-type awakened one—he couldn’t afford to be careless.
“What do you want?”
“Mmm.” The woman nodded, the allure in her eyes intensifying as she stared at Lin Dong, completely entranced. Her long legs shifted as she stepped toward him.
“There are places sunlight can’t reach, but you could...”
