Chapter 117: Writing Lyrics
“I’m just a pharmacy owner,” Yang Fan said calmly.
“A pharmacy owner?” Upon hearing this, Li Qiuya’s expression turned doubtful. How could a simple pharmacy owner live in Huiyuan Community? It was known that the residents there were wealthy families. How much money could a pharmacy owner possibly make?
“Is that so strange?” Yang Fan shrugged. “Do you think I don’t have money to live here just because I own a pharmacy?”
“Well, actually, yes,” Li Qiuya admitted with a nod.
“It’s getting late; you should head back and rest,” Yang Fan said, signaling that their conversation was over.
“Why do you want me to leave so badly?” Li Qiuya glared at him in displeasure.
“I told you, I need to rest. I don’t have time for you,” Yang Fan said impatiently.
“I just want you to keep me company. I’m not leaving,” Li Qiuya crossed her legs and settled on the sofa. “It’s boring at home anyway; might as well chat here.”
Living alone, Li Qiuya’s days were filled with watching TV or playing on her phone, which got dull after a while.
Yang Fan really had no solution for this woman.
“By the way, you’ve offended Wang Zifeng. Be careful,” Li Qiuya warned, thinking of him. “His family has some background—powerful and influential, with connections and means.”
She knew quite a bit about Wang Zifeng’s affairs and did not want to completely antagonize him. Facing his pursuit, she could only refuse.
“If he wants to die, I don’t mind sending him to meet the King of Hell,” Yang Fan said casually. He wasn’t afraid of a mere mortal. If he wished someone dead, he could do it silently and efficiently. He had plenty of methods for killing. Since they dared to make a move, he wouldn’t worry about retaliation.
Li Qiuya noticed Yang Fan’s calm demeanor and saw no trace of fear. She grew increasingly curious about his true identity. If he was truly just a pharmacy owner, she wouldn’t believe it. She suspected he must be a scion of a powerful family in the Yanhuang Kingdom with strong influence.
“You really have a heavy aura of killing about you,” Li Qiuya said, somewhat speechless.
She could feel the faint murderous intent in Yang Fan’s tone—it was as if he were an executioner who wouldn’t blink at taking a life.
“If someone threatens me, naturally, I won’t let them remain in this world,” Yang Fan shrugged.
That was his principle: eliminate any threat without hesitation.
If Wang Zifeng was ungrateful, Yang Fan wouldn’t hesitate to make him disappear.
“Alright, enough of this. I’m not interested in such topics,” Li Qiuya said, unwilling to continue the conversation about fighting and killing. She disliked discussing such matters.
“What do you want to talk about then? I’m not good at chatting and can’t find topics with you,” Yang Fan replied indifferently.
Li Qiuya rolled her eyes and smiled. “Well, can you help me think of a new song?”
“I have no clue about that. How can I help?” Yang Fan complained, feeling frustrated. He wasn’t a musical genius and didn’t understand how to write lyrics. Singing a song was one thing; composing lyrics was another.
“Oh, don’t be like that,” Li Qiuya said with a playful grin. “I just want you to help me come up with ideas and give some suggestions.”
“That’s forcing me, isn’t it?” Yang Fan said.
Li Qiuya shot him a sideways glance. “I haven’t released a new song in a long time. My fans keep urging me, and I have a concert coming up soon. I need new songs.”
Clearly, if she didn’t satisfy Li Qiuya’s request, peace was out of the question.
Yang Fan could only nod. “Alright, tell me how I can help.”
Seeing Yang Fan’s impatient expression, Li Qiuya pouted. She thought for a moment and said, “Most of my songs target young people, so I need to write songs that they like.”
“For example?” Yang Fan asked.
Li Qiuya pondered and said, “Songs about love, sweetness—ones that evoke memories or fantasies.”
“What kind of fantasies? Sexual fantasies?” Yang Fan joked.
“Go to hell!” Li Qiuya grabbed a pillow and tossed it at him, annoyed. “You’re so dirty-minded.”
Yang Fan shrugged innocently.
He thought about what kind of song would suit her. He just wanted Li Qiuya to leave as soon as possible.
Back on Earth in his previous life, as a young man of the 21st century, he had heard many songs and remembered some good ones.
“Give me a pen. I just got a good idea. I’ll write it down for you,” Yang Fan said after recalling a song.
The lyrics matched the style Li Qiuya described.
“Do you really have inspiration?” Li Qiuya watched him with doubt in her eyes.
“Enough with the chatter. Hurry and bring me pen and paper,” Yang Fan urged.
Pouting, Li Qiuya fetched the pen and paper.
Yang Fan sat at the table, humming softly to himself as he recalled the lyrics, then wrote them all down.
Li Qiuya stood beside him, eyes fixed on the words he wrote.
As she read further, she grew more fond of the lyrics, feeling they perfectly matched the style she wanted.
Soon, the lyrics were complete. Yang Fan carefully checked them and, satisfied, handed them to Li Qiuya.
“You actually wrote some interesting lyrics. Let me take a look,” Li Qiuya said, sitting on the sofa and reading seriously.
The lyrics were from a popular online song on Earth called “So Lucky.”
Yang Fan felt the song suited Li Qiuya well—she was a pop star after all.
“Hehe, that’s great! I didn’t expect you to be so good at this, coming up with lyrics so quickly,” Li Qiuya said happily, her gaze filled with admiration.
It wouldn’t be easy to write lyrics without talent.
“Let me check online to see if this song exists,” Li Qiuya said, still a bit skeptical, pulling out her phone.
She searched the song title and found a few results, but the lyrics were different.
Then she searched the lyrics themselves—no matches.
Now she was certain the song was Yang Fan’s original creation.
“A genius! I never imagined you could write lyrics,” Li Qiuya looked at him as if he were a rare treasure.
“Alright, I’ve settled this. You should go now,” Yang Fan said, clearly unimpressed by her admiring gaze.
After all, the lyrics weren’t really his original work.
“Not so fast. You have to help me figure out the arrangement,” Li Qiuya insisted, refusing to leave. “Since you created it, you should know how to arrange it.”
“I don’t know musical notes. I can’t arrange music,” Yang Fan shook his head.
He was telling the truth.
“Then just sing it from your feelings. I’ll record it on my phone,” Li Qiuya said, eyes wide and pleading, looking pitiful.
Seeing her like that, Yang Fan couldn’t help but laugh helplessly.
